Not sure if this is a strat that is reproducable, but I tried all variations and alternatives above and none worked for me. This is what I did:

1) Sprite Darter Hatchling 2-2-2
2) Nether Faerie Dragon 1-2-2
3) Chrominius 1-1-2

Start with Cyclone, then Life Exchange. Swap to Nether Faerie Dragon. Slicing Wind, then Life Exchange. Then Slicing Wind till pet dies (which is pretty quickly).

I brought in the Sprite Darter Hatchling again. Cyclone. Then Life Exchange again. The move after that Sprite Darter Hatchling died. Flummox was low enough to use Howl + Surge of Power with Chrominius.

Works very good. After trying the original strat, bringing him multiple times to 7!! life and fail I tried this one. Multi-Life-Exchange is the key to bring him down far enough for a safe Howl/Surge-Combo. My gratitude, Sir!

I used following strategy:

Sprite Darter Hatchling (S/S) - this can't be the Nether-Faerie Dragon) [2-2-x]
Dream Whelping (P/P) - [x-1-1]
Chrominius (H/H) [x-1-2]

1. Sprite Darter uses Arcane Blast
2. Sprite Darter uses Life Exchange
3. Sprite Darter uses Arcane Blast
4. Swap to Dream Whelping (Darter should have like 10 life)
5. Dream Whelp uses Healing Flame
6. Dream Whelp uses Toxic Skin
7. Dream Whelp dies to next attack without getting anything off.
8. Sprite Darter comes out, uses Life Exchange
9. Sprite Darter uses Arcane Blast (but he will end up dying)
10. Bring out Chrom, use Howl
11. Use Surge of Power (it should be just enough damage to kill him)

I used the exact breeds specified and when the Sprite Darter dies, Flummox always has over 1000 health. Not sure if it is bad RNG or they nerfed this.

Tried this a few more times and then made one variation and finally succeeded. Fortunately we only have to make this work once. For the Sprite Darter, make it 2-2-1, and substitute Moonfire for step 3. This added just enough damage to later attacks that it works.

Ummm why isn't pet with Haunt and then Black Claw / Hunting Party not the number 1 option on this board? I stumbled through these options for several attempts to no avail. Decided to look around, and found this strat on Wowhead. Tested it, and it worked first attempt. I even erred and miss clicked Bloodfang from my Zandalari Kneebiter after Black Claw and still won.

I don't have a Yu'la, (yes, yes, I'll get her one of these days), and I was trying to figure out how I could make this work with what I had, so here's what I came up with. It was easier for me to just grab a second Clutch-Sister than try to do the tournament. Hopefully this helps anyone in the same boat.

I'd use the two speedier breeds of Clutch-Sister: S/B & P/S. Flummox is at 272 and the P/B breed is at 273. I haven't tried it with a P/B, but that was cutting it too close for comfort for me. xD

Sprite Darter Hatchling S/S (2,2,x) Twilight Clutch-Sister S/B (2,1,2) Twilight Clutch-Sister P/S (2,1,2)

Turn 1: Arcane Blast
Turn 2: Life Exchange
Turn 3: Bring in first Twilight Clutch-Sister
Turn 4: Phase Shift
Turn 5: Twilight Meteorite
Turn 6: Second Clutch-Sister
Turn 7: Phase Shift
Turn 8: Twilight Meteorite
Turn 9: Sprite Darter Hatchling
Turn 10: Life Exchange (This has to go off! Sprite Dies, bring in 1st Twilight Clutch-Sister. They have to go in order for CD purposes.)
Turn 11: Phase Shift
Turn 12: Twilight Meteorite
Turn 13: Twilight Fire
Turn 14: Pass. Dies.
Turn 15: Phase Shift
Turn 16: Twilight Meteorite. Flummox usually dies here.
Turn 17: Twilight Fire if the Meteorite doesn't kill him.

Just tried this with my Nether Faerie Dragon P/B, (since they are not drop-based), and it worked, though the health got even lower than with the Sprite Darter. I wouldn't think the P/P or S/S breeds for the Nether Faeries would work, since their health is just too low for the Life Exchange to get off in its second turn.

Last one, I promise! I went through again (I have 8 110s) and it only failed once, when the Sprite Darter Hatchling wasn't above 649 health, which is what Flummox hits for on average at that part of the fight if I'm recalling correctly. I could be wrong, but I think that's what I saw. I might have been able to finish the fight, but I tried to swap the Clutch-Sisters and ducked it up a bit. I didn't get that scenario again, and you're welcome to try finishing the fight as usual to see if it works still!

I couldn't get the above strategy to work and was missing pets to try the others, so I used this strategy, worked a treat.

Nether Faerie Dragon (Lvl 15) 1,2,1 (used Ninja breed to ensure was fast enough)
Nether Faerie Dragon 2,2,1
Chrominuis 1,1,2

1) Life Exchange
2) Swap to Max Level NFD
3) Life Exchange
4+) Arcane blast till NFD dies
Swap to Chrominius and use Howl/Surge of Power combo

This had me scratching my head until I realized I was using an uncommon P/P NFD. I then tried P/H to no avail, then I tried P/S, thinking I wasn't getting in the hits, Still no good. I upgraded my P/P to rare and it worked first go around.

I did this easy with same pets as mentioned above, except that instead of Emmigosa I used Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon (1 1 2).

My Nether Faerie Dragon is S/B breed.

Used Cyclone followed by Life Exchange. Was able to pass 2 more Arcane Blasts mainly before my pet would die. (Maybe one can't remember exactly).

Bring in my Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon:

Used Emerald Presence followed by Breath and then Life Exchange. Managed to get Breath or 2 more as well after it before my pet died.

Then I bring in my chrominius:

Bite, Howl, Surge of Power to kill boss.

If for some reason this doesnt work for you feel free to post tweaks here but, with here suggested pet Emmigosa, i didnt do any move to boss. Like when my first pet dies boss had around 1400 HP bit less almost every time. After my Emmigosa would die boss would end up around same HP. All I got out of Emmigosa was Ice Tomb stun to get 1 more round for my Chromminius it was rather useless pet in the fight.

This strat worked fine for me, since I didn't have Emmigosa. The only tweak I made was I removed Bite from the rotation (Chrominius kept dying when I did use Bite) and simply used Howl followed by Surge of Power and it killed the boss :) Note: The damage was 1110.

Same here, I saw the comments above and was worried, but with a p/p nfd it worked perfectly first time. The only thing I'd change is remove the bite so that howl would have doubled ice tomb's damage.

Ok so this strat would not work for me and I went through a ton of different pets until one finally worked and it was a scary fight so I'm not sure how often it would work. I used a (p/b) dream whelping (2,1,1) (p/b) Nfd (2,2,2) chrominius (1,1,2) I went toxic skin, healing flame,sleeping gas (now sleeping gas has to hit or this may not work) then nfd arcane blast at least twice if you can get a 3rd off without dying before using life exchange do it cause this is what brougjt him down to at least 800. Then chrom with howl and surge of power. This was super close but worked for me the 1st time and I had some crazy rng with no crits of my own.

Neither of my first 2 pets live long enough for a 3rd attack and chrominius gets hit with the attack debuff before surge goes off then dies to the next attack

Strat 1 worked perfectly on first try, I used my Sprite Darter Hatchling instead, since I have not leveled up a nether one, as I've had the Sprite from TBC.

Albino Chimaeraling 1-2-1
Yu'La 1-2-2
Chrominius 1-1-2

Albino Chimaeraling:
1 - Lift-Off, Chimaeraling has more speed than Flummox, so it's free damage
2 - Call Darkness, it will slow Flummox's regeneration
3 - Shadowflame until Chimaeraling dies, for me he struсk once

Yu'la:
1 - Breath, this turn Yu'la should be slowed
2 - Life Exchange, as Yu'la slowed in last turn she will will be struck by Flummox first and will strike last with very little health, so Life Exchanege will do maximum damage
3 - Breath until Yu'la dies, for me she struck twice

Chrominius:
Howl
Surge of Power

That was enough.

Used Dark Whelpling instead of Albino Chimaeraling, strategy worked after a few tries and when I used Call Darkness first before lift-off (whelpling didn't go first).

This worked, but watch out for Conviction's Dark Rebirth. When you are with one hit, use Cyclone or pass a couple of rounds.

Tough fight.

I managed to do it with NFD as described, Unborn Valk 1/2/2 and Chrominius Howling the doom and following with surge. Again relies on the NFD surviving the two-shot.

I know it could be frustrating when a strategy doesn't work.
This one worked for me at the first time.
My team:
Nether Faerie Dragon -> Rare destruction
Emmigosa -> Rare power & speed
Chrominius -> Rare guardian

The strategies above with Emmigosa or Yu'la did not work for me 20 times and counting. I switched out Emmigosa/Yu'la for an Albino Chimaeraling in the first slot and nailed it on the first try with the following rotation:
Chimaeraling
1. Lift-Off (important to miss Buuurp)
2. Call Darkness (limits Flummox's healing by 50%...essential)
3. Shadowflame
Chimaeraling dies; switch to Nether Faerie Dragon
1. Arcane Blast
2. Life Exchange
3. Arcane Blast (as many times as possible; presumably Flummox may miss one of his hits if you're fortunate)
Faerie Dragon dies; bring in Chrominius
1. Howl
2. Surge of Power

This failed for me with a P/P Albino and an S/S NFD, but succeeded with an S/S Albino and a P/P NFD.

To avoid Buurp, your Albine must be faster than 272, and having your NFD take two attacks before Life Exchange rather than one makes a big diffference in damage as well.

Tried every strategy posted on this page god knows how many times and not even come close to killing him, I guess the RNG and crit hits on whatever realms your on is a lot lower than it is now in patch 7.15

this one works always, 100%

Yu'la - Breath, Celestial Blessing, Life Exchange (you will never use Breath)
Sprite Darter Hatchling - Arcane Blast, Life Exchange, Moonfire (you will never use Moonfire - it will boost healing for Flummox)
Chrominius - Bite, Howl, Surge of Power

You start with Yu'la:

round 1 - Celestial Blessing
round 2 - Life Exchange

round 3 - switch SDH
round 4 - Arcane Blast
round 5 - Arcane Blast
round 6 - Life Exchange
round 7 - Arcane Blast (SDH will die from DoT); pick Yu'la

round 8 - Celestial Blessing
round 9 - dead Yu'la

round 10 - Howl
round 11 - Surge of Power

This worked for me with Emmigosa instead of the Sprite Darther Hatchling.

You basically Life exchange him down below 50% and finish him off with chrominius. The celestial blessing helps quite nicely.

These guides are great for the most part but it would be really awesome if you could please include the breeds you use. Looking through the comments on many of the strats it's clear that a lot of them are dependent on a particular breed.

Hey Exhume! Indeed, some are not fully tested with all breeds, but I'd say it's less than 5% of all strategies here. Sadly they kind of accumulate in the Family Familiar section - which is also the most visited one right now. Doh!
I will include breed information, that's already decided. But it's a good bit further down my timeline.

In this case (see my comment below) I sailed through with a P/P NFD, but kept failiing with an S/S. I think any NFD slower than 272 will do it easily.

I couldn't get it to work with S/S Nether Faerie Dragon, the first life exchange was happening too early, so the hit was not big enough. P/P seems to work nicely.

People using an 325 speed S/S Nether Faerie Dragon (or a Sprite Darter Hatchling, which only comes in 309 speed) may not succeed with this strat. Based on my tests just now, I think they will always fail, barring lucky crits. I think this may also be so for S/B and P/B breeds, but I don't have them for testing.

Putting the numbers aside, the difference is that Flummox is 272 speed, so the S/S NFD is faster. (So are the S/B and P/B breeds, at 289 and 273 speed.) This means that the Life Exchange from the S/S only does as much damage to Flummox as he did on one attack, whereas the other breeds' Life Exchange compensate for two attacks. This makes a difference of 200-300 damage done by the NFD, and that difference carries through to the end, and determines the success or otherwise of the strat.

It is not possible to interpolate an extra attack before the Life Exchange, because Flummox's second attack causes Weakness, and the S/S will not attack first in the third round and so will die before casting it.

Tried and got 2 shot on each one every time, couldn't get 1 arcane blast off, died before cast Ice tomb and chrominus got one shot, all lvl 25 rare's. worst strategy Ive seen

Azure Whelpling comes only in P/P breed and is slower than Flummox. Emmigosa is P/S and faster. This actually made a difference for me in this fight.

I would put bite before howl that way the howl does not get used up when Ice Tomb comes down but instead buffs surge of power.

After multiple tries, I did get the strategy as posted above to work... it depends on each pet landing its third attack... so flummox cannot get a crit hit. Means you're facing RNG, but it's doable.

I swapped out Emmigosa for Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon (1, 2, 2). This might have been luck but with the Celestial Blessing buff Chrominius survived long enough to Bite twice, then Howl, then Surge of Power.

When you bring Chrominius, use Howl+Bite+Surge, since he is humanoid and will heal a bit over the Surge damage.

I did Howl , Ice Tomb drops, stuns , Bite does little dmg but give chrom the dragon dmg boost and then used Surge of Power. Once I did that this strat worked first time.

First time I tried this, the first two pets didnt make to their third round, the second time they did.
Also, having an extra bite before howl/SoP waits for the debuff to fall off your Chrominius.
Dependant on him not critting

The pets can not generate enough damage to overcome Flummox's Elite ability (Reduces all damage taken by 50%). If the Howl was effective for both Ice Tomb and Surge of Power then it would be possible.

Taktik 1 hat gleich auf Anhieb geklapt. Weiss aber nicht ob mit Glück oder ohne. Jedenfalls hätte ich keine weitere Runde mit Chrominius überlebt!

R8: Pet3: Heulen
R9: Pet3: Kraftsog

2x Chrominius besitzen natürlich nur wenige. Keuft euch das(wenn viel gold) oder leiht euch das vom kollegen oder netten Gildi.

for me it worked, after several trys. What was important that the first two pets are generally faster than Flummox to get the third round first. Therefore it didn't worked out to change Emmigosa with Blue Whelpling.
I also had tries where I ended with half hies HP, always when he did the bottle throw before Chrominius final attack.

Vague de puissance + magie sauvage + hurlement = 200 et quelques de dégats.

En sachant qu'à ce moment du combat il est à +1000 PV en suivant la strat.

A moins de faire un combat full critique, je vois pas comment ça passe.

Première fois que je n'arrive pas à réaliser un combat grâce à une compos proposée ici.

При условии, что он критовать не будет - сработает. В первый трай он двумя критами снес моего дракончика еще до обмена жизнью. Пришлось перезапускать...

проблема в том, что Вой работает неправильно. Если повесить его на врага, и сработает ледяная гробница, то дебаф автоматически спадёт, и Вою не хватит добить Взамешателя

Не смог выиграть благодаря данной стратегии. 4 раза проиграл, Чудесный дракончик Пустоты был породы #5 С/С, возможно из-за этого.

Master Tamer Flummox with Dragons is one of the toughest battles. That is why there is a skull next to it. Strategies with the skull can fail and you will have to restart several times.
