I had much better luck with a modified version:

Start with humanoid leveling pet that can survive the swap attack (mine was a level 17 flayer youngling but it doesn't really matter as long as they survive the swap).

Use any attack until leveling pet is swapped out for Anub Idol. Use Sandstorm then Crush until Imp is dead (and deflection as-needed to avoid swap). I may have gotten lucky with RNG but my Idol killed the Imp.

I did NOT use a second Sandstorm, so as to avoid bad RNG on Globs. I just used deflection against Globs' hardest hit and then Crush until Idol died. Then followed the strat as above (Takedown with Kun Lai Runt until Globs died, and the recommended Kun Lai Runt strat for Sprout).

Was WAY easier and worked on the first try compared to multiple bad RNG tries using the above strat, plus got some good leveling xp!

my anubisath idol was still alive when it came to the third enemy pet. didn't need the third at all.

For those of you who do not have an Anubisath Idol at level 25 or just get tired of this one per being the only solution to every battle for humanoids, I did this battle using Lil' Bad Wolf (Claw, Dodge, Howl), Sister of Temptation (Shadow Shock, Curse of Doom), Winter's Little Helper (Gift of Winter's Veil and Call Blizzard) as noted by Rikade on http://www.wowhead.com/npc=104970/xorvasc#comments. Howled at the beginning, pass and Sister switched in. Shadow Shock finished Trixy. Curse of Doom and Shadow shock till Sister died. Brought in Lil' Bad Wolf, Dodge and Claw finished Globs, Cast Howl on Nightmare Sproutling and Lil' Bad Wolf died. Gift of Winter's Veil and Call Blizzard finished off Sprouting.

Took 4 attempts, the RNG is serious with sandstorm. I recommend using the shield instead which takes away that chance to hit. Takes an extra hit to kill trixxy but you sail through with no issues, just remember to keep the timing correct with deflection for the swap out.

I like this much better. Less risky of an outcome. My Kun-Lai Runt died, but the 3rd pet easily finished the fight in 1-2 moves.

If using a P/P KLR, you should change it's rotation on the Sprout to FS, DF, Td, Td, FS, Td. You finish the fight there. That only works with the destro breed, though.

So annoyed. I have tried this 6 times with no luck. Based 90% on RNG - so I suggest you bring a pet that can actually kill the sprout. Because 4/6 times I did EXACTLY step by step listed above - the kunlai runt would die before ever even touching the sprout! Edit: Ended up with a total of 8 attempts before I completely gave up and tried a strat on wow head - first try!

Had some bad rng with my Idol missing, but was able to finish the fight by using Crusher as my last pet. Used Spiny Carapace and Acid Touch which finished off the last pet.

Man, RNG hates me. This strat failed twice because stupid idol kept missing with sandstorm up. :(

Start with a pet that can take the hit from the switch ability and you can lvl a pet with this family set.

Trixy swapped my Kuni-Lai in but I managed anyhow with this set-up. Just had to improvise a bit. (My 3rd pet, Stundet Yeti, finished the Sprout with one Haymaker.)

Worked the same, idol killed off first two. Level 1 pet recieved 300someodd xp.
