Suggested by a fair number of ppl on a different strategy for the same fight, now having tried and tested it myself, it’s now here for everyone to browse. Also take note of the enemies abilities that continuously change every time you enter combat with them. Ideally you want: Arcane Explosion and-/or Arcane Storm active on the enemy pets.
Strategy tested and passed January 17th 2019 Script thanks to Cellardwellar |

You can probably get away with a 10+ for mechs, and probably anything except flyers, but do 15+ to be safe.
Because the enemies can have random abilities, and don't use them in any particular order, sometimes a level 14 flyer will survive, and sometimes a level 19 will die. Use a flyer as the level pet at your discretion. |

The fight is unpredictable because the enemy pets change their spells every time you initiate a fight.
To make sure your level pet survives, restart the fight and check their spells until the least of them have Arcane Explosion or Arcane Storm active. |

Start the fight, if Font of Mana has Surge of Power then surrender and restart. I have tested this strat and can only get this to work if Font of Mana doesnt have Surge of Power.

This would be much easier if they would just stick to their spells for once!

By the way, having got the number, you can generate that ability's tooltip which bases upon a specific stat value. As the only stat the tooltips use dynamically is Power, you will use two numbers over here, e.g.:
/script FloatingPetBattleAbility_Show(110,nil,341,nil)
where "110" is ability Bite, "341" is the Power of a user and "nil" are other stats unspecified.

Use Drain Blood after Surge of Power, keep Bone Barrage on CD, and Breath in-between. Easy Sauce.

I use Infinite Whelpling and Spawn of Onyxia.
The strat depends on their ability rng somewhat but it basically consists of just Tail Sweep and Healing Flame with some passing at whatever moment/s necessary, i.e.; if Evanescence or Prismatic Barrier is up. I don't worry about what abilities they have, the script takes care of it.
It's a fairly simple TDScript as well.
quit [ self(#3).dead & enemy(#3).active ]
standby [ self(#1).active & enemy(#3).hp<900 ]
ability(168) [ enemy.aura(311).exists & !self.hp.full ]
standby [ enemy.aura(311).exists ]
ability(168) [ self.hp<1050 ]
standby [ enemy.aura(443).exists ]
ability(122)
change(#2) [ !self(#2).played ]
change(#3)

That leaves a choice of 4; Infinite Hatchling and Spawn of Onyxia which come in P/P, P/S and P/B breeds, Onyxian Whelpling which comes in P/B, and Nightmare Whelpling which comes in H/P.
Onyxian is probably a bit rare now, being a WoW 5th Anniversary FoS, and not many want to pay what most want to charge for Nightmare on the AH, but the other two (the two I use) are easily obtainable.

Anyway. I used Spawn of onyxia, 212
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling 112
Leveling pet (20+ for cleave damage to be safe.
Round 1+2 lift off
Round 3 Tail sweep and healing flame on cd until Font of Mana is dead
Seed of mana comes in
Round 1 Tail sweep
Round 2+3 lift off, should avoid surge of power
Round four, healing flame on CD or tail sweep until Seed of Mana is dead
Essence of mana came in and used surge of power, finishing off my spawn. I brought in my leveling pet, then swapped to my pandaren dragonling while they were recovering.
1. Decoy
2. Breath until the Essence of Mana is dead.
Worked well, didn't need to rez, got decent xp. Didn't need to start anything over, although my level 20 pet was definitely a little low.

Also, Spawn of Onyxia P/S just soloed all three of them if using Healing Flame on CD. Never had to bring in either Dragonling or leveling 20+ pet.

You could also get 3 fiends without Arcane Explosion and then a level 1 can be used.
But you won't know before you start the battle.

Result: Easy 1st try win and quest credit

Move 1 > Corg 2
swap to Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling > Spam Breath til Enemy Pet 1 dies
Decoy
Spam Breath and use Decoy on cooldown
I did not even need my 3rd pet - the MMechanical Pandaren Dragonling pretty much mopped the floor!
Hope this helps and with a Safari Hat + Lesser Pet Treat Corg went from 10 to 15
