Have never been a fan of strategies that require specific breeds or pets that are not available like the Treasure Goblin. I replace him with Gregarious Grell using Burn/Dodge/Sear Magic and it worked perfectly. Otherwise I am a huge fan of the work you put out on this guide! It has been a great help.

As far as I know, the Treasure Goblin is still available with the purchase of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition.

Since there is now Blizzard Balance, technically both Blizzard-bought pets and TCG pets are available for gold, so I wouldn't get too excited about it.

Anyway, as I understand John's point, he thought the Treasure Goblin was unobtainable, not that it was a shop pet.

And it's always nice to hear about another possible substitute.
