Just tried this strategy because I still need to level up Lil'Tarecgosa to try another category.

It took 3 tries before Ash died. He survived Blood in the Water every time, but on the third try Razertooth finally survived long enough with Ash low enough that a Rip finished him off.

Once I was able to get past that it worked, but there seems to be some RNG involved here

If your Monkey doesn't get hit 4x times from two Vento Tagliente attacks (or at least with a crit in 3 hits), then Beast passive won't be triggered soon enough and you'll probably lose the quaranteed crit (for Barrel Toss impact) and the fight.
