I also had a little difficulty with my Phoenix Hatchling (S/S) doing enough damage. Added Dark Phoenix Hatchling in 3rd slot which finished him off with Burn. Don't know if the breeds mattered so adding them just in case.

This wouldn't work for me because Fel Flame would die due to using Mind Games: Health on turn #2. I fixed this by ensuring Mind Games: Ability Lockout was used turn #2 instead:

Didn't work for me as written 2/2 times. Phoenix hatchling's Conflagrate doesn't do enough damage to finish it off, forcing me to switch in my 3rd pet to either eat a stun or lock out abilities. I chose to lock abilities on my fetid waveling and spammed Creeping Ooze until it died two rounds later.

I had the same issue with my S/S Phoenix Hatchling. Swapped it for my H/S Dark Phoenix Hatchling (1627 H) & finished off with my P/P Fel Lasher, Toxic Smoke.

Used Lil Rag for turn 4 swap, got the battlefield effect out and was able to finish off with Fel Flame easily. Different strat but the fight seems sorta forgiving for not having the exact comp.
