WoW 9.2.5+ & no script: green quality PB Twilight Whelping, Stormborne, Chrominius: 1st try didn't work out, where it says first & 3rd pet die and revive is not what actually happens ever. But the 2nd time it worked anyway, bc when it was time to attack Leftie3, I had the double-damage buff that dragon types have when they get a mob below a certain amount. So that time "don't surrender" did make sense finally. To be clear, Surge didn't kill him but it made him explode and I had enough HP left to survive that plus a round or two of bones damage on his undead round. (edited)

I wanted to share this here (Credit to Lodi posted on Wowhead) in case you're like me and keep trying this hoping it's just RNG but it's not -- it just doesn't work as intended. Hope it helps someone:

1. Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon (2,2,2)
2. Nether Faerie Dragon (2,2,1)
3. Chrominius (x,1,2)

Start with Yu'La:
Jadefire Lightning -> Life Exchange -> Celestial Blessing -> Jadefire Lightning

Swap to Nether Faerie Dragon:
Moonfire -> Arcane Blast until 1st Leftovers dies -> Life Exchange -> Arcane Blast (2nd Leftovers kills himself and Nether Faerie Dragon dies)

Bring in Yu'La:
Life Exchange -> Celestial Blessing (Yu'La dies)

Chrominius Comes in:
Howl -> Surge of Power (3rd Leftovers dies)

Chrominius doesn't always survive last hit from 3rd Leftovers so you might have to repeat until he does, but I'd say he survives more often than not.

Faerie Dragon didn't die when it was supposed to, so 3rd Leftovers first attack killed it and Yu'La, but the howl bomb was still enough to win the fight. Thanks!

I tested this one, too. My Chrominius survived with 20 HP to spare. It's a tough battle, but this is an effecive strat too.

Tried this 4 times step by step and I failed. There's only 1 thing that makes this strategy flawed. When you get Chrominius up use Arcane explosion once and 99% of times you should have the +50% dmg Dragonkin pets have so use Surge of power instead of howl. This will make the undead pet to explode so you skip 1 turn that would normally kill your pet.

So I took a look, and I was lucky; this worked first time for me. I will attach my log in a follow-up.

This is a hard battle, which we should be able to see from there being only two attempts at a strat for it here, and thts strat cuts it pretty close.

When considering possible failure modes, I focused on Chrominius, but there are probably others. A combination of a high hit from Mana Surge with the possibility of a crit on Chrominius makes for a fail. In my log, Chrominius took a total of

Psionic Storm 354
Mana Surge 579
Lightning Storm 56
Corpse Explosion 353
Corpse Explosion 82
Lightning Storm 56
Total 1480

damage, which left him alive with 164 HP to spare, but a crit on any of the big hits, or a max hit (798) on Mana Surge would have been too much. You do need some level of luck, but it shouldn't take too many tries.

I've now failed 4x.. still trying. The issues, I think, is RNG. Not only crits, but with Call Lightning active, the first Punch from the last pet (his second attack after CoD), kills Chrominimus 100% of the time. Going to have to find something else, I think. Possibly they changed something in the hot-fix, but i don't think this works any more. On my 5th attempt I saw this (no crits, still loss on what should be the last round)

I think i've discovered the "missing bit". It's more RNG: Mana surge base damage for his Leftovers has a range of 532-798. If you wind up on the top end against Chrominimus (he gets one attack in during his immortal round) he'll die. if not, you'll win (maybe -- I sitll haven't managed to get a win after ~ a dozen losses) I still think this strat is probably the best, but it's HEAVY RNG.

you don't have to use howl, you can use surge of power immediately when enemy third pet come in, enemy third pet only use curse of doom at his first round, and he will explode at second round and have no chance to use punch.

To my analysis, the RNG tag is justified, unfortunately. I went through the moves ten times, four of them successful. The issue is the variability of the second enemy pet's Mana Surge (532-798). For the first two, as long as the first does not crit, numbers don't matter. If the third (hitting Chrominius) checks in for >658 damage, Chrominius will not survive the Lightning tick after Corpse Explosion. The strategy, executed without critical hits on any side, will fail on 5 out of 10 tries. Since a critical hitting Bone Bite ends the Twilight Welpling before the Wing Buffet is out, the overall ratio might be a bit worse.

I really like how this strategy dodges the undead round (kudos, nogulpfrog), but RNG it is. (edited)

I always share strategies in xufu and my native forum. In my native forum , critical is not considered as RNG because we nearly impossible to prevent it, especially when you face a strong enemy , but everything is different here.

For the record: nogulpfrog is right. I obviously jumped to wrong conclusions.

What could explain people (and me, for that matter) claiming that there was no crit involved: The battle pet cameras really ugly here, you have to adjust your viewpoint and zoom level to see your own back row. And if Psionic Storm critically hits your Chrominius in the back row, he'll have survival issues.

It needs the RNG tag. It's not just the opponent's crits but the players', as well, that vary catastrophically. If five fights produce five very different logs yet all lose, there's enough RNG to warn the player with the RNG tag. (edited)

Yeah I'm not sure what happened here even with upgrading my twilight whelpling to rare vs uncommon and leveling it this strat didn't work even after several attempts. Even without crits by the time the last leftovers comes in I've Chrom has taken so much damage from bone barrage and the call lightning you place on the field it can't get a hit off. On the attempts when surge of power did hit (sometimes with howl) it still didn't do enough damage to kill the last pet.
