Most stages in Gnomeregan include battles with 1 specific team leader pet and 2 random teammates from a list of 7 (5x Mech, 1x Critter, 1x Undead). Usually, each time you play that dungeon you will face different teams. Maybe next time you fight Cockroach accompanied by two nasty mechs and a beast would fail. Emperor Crab could often solo entire teams, the rabbits are there to take Greater Apocalypse hits if they happen and Soul of the Forge mostly to face Gnomish Rocket Chickens because they often weakened my crab too much while testing.

Thanks for the RCG (Random Crittur Generator) info. I was somewhat confused because I had only the one Cockroach and no GRCs (Chickens). My Soul of the Forge nearly died...from boredom. It never saw battle. Now, the strategy makes sense.

When there were multiple roaches on the team, I brought in my hare when the first had one hit left... smacked it with flurry, and was able to dodge the second roach's apocalypse also on its first round. Easy to avoid the apocalypses with proper timing.

After I did the dodge on the first round with my Arctic Hare I brought in my Emperor Crab which only was a H/H. As long as I keep up my shield I was able to block all of the Cockroach swarms which I never took any damage.
