I've done a lil bit different to level a pet but is based on your strategy. Unborn on slot 1, levelling pet on slot 2, nether on slot 3.

Doom, Unholy Ascension
Bring in levelling pet
Bring in Nether
Life Exchange, Arcane Blast until hes dead.

That worked for me. However, it should be noted that the leveling pet will take a good bit of damage, so a lower level pet will die. I have only tried it thus far with a level 23 pet (Vibrant Glimmerfly) who did survive, and ended the fight with 60% health.
