Definatly some rng going on here cause my little helper dies way to early. He gets killed by the cat in one shot. Nairn has more than half health left in the back row. and cat just kills everyone, (editado)

its the 26-Aug-2022 right now and i have been trying this strat (Shademaster Kiryn) for the last hour at least, lost count how many tries.... it does not work no more. The part where Stormoen dies, he ressurects and kills winter little helper than its downhill from there.. i thought maybe i have bad rng but nop happens everytime... and the other 2 wise mari and blingtron 400 ... they took me a lot of tries too but i did beat them sometimes. this is the latest guide and i dont know what to do anymore because its old content and no one really cares lol

I went out to check it out, but unfortunately, it's not up in EU this week. Maybe someone in NA will take a peek.

While it is old content, people do care. The CT is still my greatest memory of pet battles. :)

This strat was last updated before Shadowlands, and the changes to Call Lightning in SL could affect it.

However, all of the comments here are from Shadowlands, and most people expressed satisfaction, and it has 43 likes and a 4.7 score. So, while it might be vulnerable to certain RNG crits, it seems unlikely that you could fail many times on a strat with this much positive experiences.

Breed is not a factor here.

Were all your pets Blue 25s?

Can you use any of the other strats?

I remembered that the PTR runs on US weeks, so I went into that and tried it.

It worked perfectly for me 6 times in a row! Wouldn't you know - the one time you WANT to have a crit against you in the wrong place, the game doesn't deliver! :P

I also made a mistake once, when I used Ice Lance instead of Call Blizzard. However, this was a useful mistake, because it got my Winter's Little Helper killed right where you report.

In this case, I still won the battle, but had to deviate from the sequence. Like Indigosamuri below, I used Lift-Off to finish Stormoen, and then I think it took me two Infected Bites before I got Nairn in range to be killed with Ghostly Bite.

So this is a possible way out of the Helper dying too early. But I don't really see a way that the Helper CAN die too early apart from unlucky crits, which would not repeat as often as you say.

Are you sure your Helper is level 25 and Blue quality?

yeah i was not exaggerating in my original post, it doesnt work for (me),yeah all my pets are rare,maybe bad rng? im not the luckiest guy in the world but i end up finding this post on wowhead and it works 100%

I got Elekk win, with Sister of Temptation (1,1,1), Molten Corgi (2,1,1) and Elekk with (x,x,2)

vs. Nairn:
1. Sister of Temptation > Curse of Doom > Shadow Shock till Nairn dies (4-5 casts). Stormoen enters.
2. cast Lovestruck > Curse of Doom (Stormoen swaps, and the CoD hits Summer)
3. Swap to Molten Corgi
4. Cast Puppies of Flame
5. Cast Superbark
6. Cast Flamethrower
7. Swap to Elekk
8. Cast itchin' for a Stichin
9.Shadow shock (second pet should die here)
10. Cast Curse of doom
11. Cast Lovestruck
12. Shadow shock
13. Shadow Shock
14. Flame thrower
15. Cast puppies of flame and last pet should die!

You should get the addon Pet Battle Log Keeper. It is officially out of date, but still works fine. After a bettle, you can use the command /pblk and Save the battle so you have a record.

From my tests, it is wildly statistically improbable (like age of the Universe kind of improbable) that you could suffer as many crits in just the same wrong places as you reportm so there has to be something else going on here. Having logs from some failures would settle the question.

In any case, I'm glad you got it done! :D

I don't think the WH can survive a lightning storm crit so basically you have a 5% chance but as Gráinne there is still ways to win

I kind-of assume that pretty much any strat can fail to a REALLY bad RNG streak. I take that as a given. And so when I see someone claim that a strat failed, I don't pay much attention (unless they are trashing the strat without giving any useful details, which annoys me).

But when someone who seems to be giving it a genuine try claims that they failed multiple times, with no success, on a strat that I can math out to be working, it niggles at me. What could be happening, that I am not thinking of?

A vast number of strats are vulnerable to a 1-in-400 incident - two crits in just the wrong places - and some are vulnerable to a single crit - a 1-in-20 chance - but when somebody who seems to be genuinely trying reports consistent failures (over an hour? 12 attempts?) I can't let go of the curiosity to understand what is happening.

I swear I've been that unlucky before :P I've been stunned 6 times after reseting before which was a 0.098% chance YET my rare mounts will never drop. Makes me think if you reset in a single session it gives you similar rolls but thats just where my brain goes :P

But yeah I agree, I was actually running this strat thinking of a ways to get level pet's to work against her (Level pet nerd here) and I think the only way this could fail besides getting serious multiple crits is a single crit on lightning storm (which does over 90% of the helpers health). Would be serious unlucky

My WH died when Stormoen died, so wasnt able to get that ice lance off. Just swapped the blight hawk in and ran the script and easily won

This strat worked perfectly for me. However, my Winter's Helper died before she could get off an additional lance on Nairn (Turn 1+) but it didn't affect the outcome at all.

When someone says "it didn't work", with no details, I assume they made a mistake. I got tired of chasing up those kind of reports long ago. Sometimes they were even using the strat for a different battle. :D
