Okay, I can see where some of the RNG is going to come in. The B/B UBV is the same speed as Sputtertube, which means you have a coin toss on whether or not Haunt will hit.

I switched over to Unholy Ascension, and it worked just fine--in fact, I was done by round 6. Haunt won't hit while dead, but Unholy Ascension will. This would also negate the need for a breed restriction on the UBV.

Here were my rounds:

Turn 1: Curse of Doom
Turn 2: Unholy Ascension
Turn 3: (Undead) Shadow Shock

Bring in Ikky

Turn 1: Black Claw
Turn 2: Flock (Ikky dies)

Brought in my Dark Phoenix Hatchling

Turn 1: Immolate (Sputtertube died)

I chose an elemental DoT so that it would hit, put him in mech rez, and then the DoT would hit again. So, Flamethrower, Immolate, Fel Immolate, Twilight Fire, and so on, would work well here. (edited)
