I feel this should be the favorite strat for Critter/Thenia. It's so easy to find snails and roaches that can do the job.

I went ahead with a PP breed Beetle (Lava Beetle, *, *, 2). That pretty much took out the swapping issue.

I had the same problem, but my roach had high health and I used survival on the power surge ability and scratch to finish the grazer, worked out in the end.

Somehow this did not work for me at all, after several tries the first 2 enemy pets were never dead yet when Apocalypse hit and the roach couldn't kill the grazer alone. I changed my tactic then and killed the fly with my roach when it was swapped in. Only then did I swap it out again and together my snails killed the peachick. The meteor hit the grazer and my second snail and the roach survived as planned.
