Still works perfectly the same as it has since 2018. I use an SS Mechanical Axebeak and always have. This has never failed me a single time.

Xar rédigé le 2023-01-04 01:54:47

But I don't use a script. It works great manually, I should say.

Alyssania

rédigé le 2023-01-05 23:07:49

Agreed. I just used it manually (have always done so) with a n SS MechaP and HP Axebeak and all it had to do to kill Fezwick was the Haywire. Great, simple strat.

Evil

rédigé le 2019-02-05 02:34:30

"does not work. At all."
"fails often post-BFA"

Just posting some statements without any arguments </3

2019...

Still works :D nothing ever changed since the strategy was made.

I am literally doing it everyday to level up an alt whenever DMF is up... 4% of level daily (8% lev for both DMF pet battles per day)

Either:
- you are doing something terribly wrong (?)
- your Breed is not correct for Mechanical Axebeak.

(but o be honest any Mechanical Axebeak Breed should work, not sure, cause this pet is just so cheap to make/buy that there is no reason to use any other than P/P or S/S (aka best ones))

I've never actually thought this strategy will "fail" for anybody.. but okay!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's say that you had VERY BAD RNG and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died super early...

So lets assume that happened, you are pissed, but instead of using Mechanical Axebeak's DECOY vs Honky-Tonk, you decided to waste your precious time, downrating the strategy, and saying how bad it is, and doesnt work, etc :"(

All you have to do is T H I N K !! (sorry, caps intended) :P

VS Honky-Tonk -> just start with Mechanical Axebeak -> DECOY

(should probably include it in the strategy years ago, but in like 99/100 tries you dont even need that, even if your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling got stunned, or died early)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TL;DR (too long; didn't read)

Strategy always worked, and still works in BFA/5th of February 2019!

If somehow you are in the worst possible situation, and your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died super early (vs Honky-Tonk)

Bring Mechanical Axebeak:

- start with DECOY! (caps intended) :P

- Alpha Strike until Honky-Tonk is dead

- swap to any level pet (to eat Fezwick's stun)

- swap back to Mechanical Axebeak -> Haywire -> Alpha Strike until Fezwick is dead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS: Making some of the strategies can literally take HOURS of testing...

Let's respect other people time and effort. :'(

Belle

If your Axebeak should start with Decoy, why doesn't it say in the steps above aka strategy?

WhyDaRumGone

rédigé le 2022-11-09 08:52:46

Yeah I was having RNG issues I found most of my RNG came from being stunned and then the wrong moves/crits. Using Decoy on MA worked great. It probably should be updated with that or putting an RNG tag.

I do agree its hard making strats and just saying "it sucks", "or failed for me" but not putting why is tough and doesn't help the creator improve it.

Quick TD script. Haven't tested:

rédigé le 2021-01-03 10:02:53

Great strat, and works 100% of the time despite what some people are commenting.

One thing that should probably be updated in the description is to specify that Decoy should be chosen for the Mechanical Axebeak's third ability slot (right now it indicates that the third slot doesn't matter). And if the MPD dies early (on Honky-Tonk), Axebeak should be brought in, and Decoy should be used first before Alpha Strike. It's not always vital, but it helps give a little buffer to protect against weird crits or Banana Barrage hits.

Maizou

rédigé le 2019-05-10 01:57:13

This strategy still works perfectly fine in BFA. Not sure why people are saying it doesn't. It has worked 100% of the time for me over the past ~8 months, which is about 55 battles. (And it works WAY more reliably and easier than the Ashstone Core strategy which is the main one)

I even have a H/P Mechanical Axebeak, which isn't even one of the ones that says works, and I have zero issues with that too. Hell, half the time it kills the pet with just Haywire.

If you get unlucky and Honky Tonk kills your dragonling (often caused by Honky-Tonk stunning it), just use Decoy first with your Axebeak, then use Alpha Strike.

I'd highly recommend updating the strategy to recommend using Decoy if your Dragon dies to Honky Tonk and removing the Breed Requirement on the Axebeak, or at least adding H/P to the possible breeds, because I'm proof H/P is viable. I'm not sure if S/S is viable, but I can't imagine it would fail, as I always end up with over 50% health on my axebeak no matter what.

SarumanWise

rédigé le 2020-08-07 03:02:13

Just commenting in 8.3 to back you up - this strategy does indeed work with an S/S Mechanical Axebeak, and mine did indeed have over 50% health at fight's end. I may have been lucky with RNG and crits, but it is doable.

Drowsy rédigé le 2020-04-05 12:32:04

You can beat him with Mechanical Pandaren Dragon, Mr Bigglesworth at level 10, and Lil' Bling. It was pretty easy. Good luck.

This has worked for me, but tonigth it failed twice. Doing it with the script and correct breeds. Both time my axebeak died with Fezwick having just a few hp left but my levelling pet could not kill it so switched to a standard level 25 pet.

rédigé le 2019-04-08 18:19:40

I switched to this strategy today after the one I'd been using failed several times. This strategy worked perfectly with the addition of a Decoy when Mech Axebeak (H/P) came in to finish off Honky (as suggested in Evil's comment). Thanks for the strategy, Evil; and, as always, thanks to Xu-Fu for the wonderful website.

Brian rédigé le 2018-10-09 16:12:01

Gonna put it bluntly, this does not work. At all.

abi rédigé le 2019-01-11 19:38:57

it used to. I think BFA killed it. Used to work flawlessly for me, but fails often post-BFA. Ashstone Core/Lil Bling is the better strat now ime/imo.

Spider rédigé le 2017-07-05 11:20:45

I used Stormwing in place of a Mechanical Axebeak (Call Lightning in place of Haywire) and it worked out perfectly!

StarMinion rédigé le 2017-07-06 05:42:49

I prefer Stormwing over Mechanical Axebeak myself. I used (1, 1, 1). I don't know if I just have bad luck or what but my MPD always seems to get stunned and die too soon to the Tonk. Finishing off the Tonk with Call Lightning seems to work quicker, then after switching the level pet for the stun and switching Stormwing back in, Call Lightning and Alpha Strike finish off Fezwick really well.

Tried this strat with an SB Mechanical Axebeak and an SS Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling and it failed as a leveling strat. I had to finish Fezwick off his last 66 health points with my carry pet. Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died early, so I brought in the Axebeak and needed 2 uses of Alpha Strike to finish off Honky-Tonk. By the time I had swapped to my carry pet and my Axebeak was back into play, it was already at about 50% health, just a little low to survive Fezwick. Might have been bad luck or not enough power in my breeds :)

And one for Jeremy:

change(#2) [ self(#1).dead & !enemy(#2).dead ]
change(#2) [ self(#3).active ]
change(#3) [ enemy(#3).active & enemy.round=1 ]
ability(Thunderbolt:779)
ability(Decoy:334)
ability(Haywire:916)
ability(#1)
standby

The Haywire line should read 'ability(Haywire:916) [ enemy(#3).active'

Also, this strat is still incredibly rng dependant.

A P/P Axebeak typically ends the fight w/ Haywire on round 3 & 4 making this a very fast strat. Highly recommended.

Updated TD Script that works even if Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling gets killed by the Tonk. Ability names included so it's easier for people newer to scripts to follow what's happening.

if [enemy(#1).active]
ability(Thunderbolt:779)
ability(Decoy:334)
ability(Breath:115)
endif
if [enemy(#2).active]
ability(Thunderbolt:779)

ability(Breath:115)
ability(Alpha Strike:504)
change(#3) [self(#1).dead]

Slight edit to the script (added standby line). Forgot about the 25% chance to be stunned on Shock and Awe.

ability(Breath:115)

if [enemy(#2).active]

ability(Decoy:334)
ability(Breath:115)
ability(Alpha Strike:504)
change(#3) [self(#1).dead]
endif
if [enemy(#3).active]
change(#2) [enemy.round=1]
change(#3)
ability(Haywire:916)
ability(Alpha Strike:504)

Scrapped the original script I wrote and created this one with some sanity checks, a less rigid structure, and more efficient character usage.

Found that if Honky-Tonk uses Lock-On twice without being blocked by Decoy the fight is very likely going to fail as there's a fair chance that Fezwick can wreck the Mechanical Axebeak with a good Smash. For this reason this script will abort if MPD dies.

sorry my noob question, but is there an addon that u may put this script into, or this is just a convenient way to explain a strategy in a 'coded' way? :S:S
(if there is an addon link the website plz :))

Amazing strat. Love the Axebeak over the Tonk. Thank you so much!

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-05-10 20:46:58

I use a Axebeak Hatchling in stead of the Mechanical version and it does just fine. (beast damage is low against Flying)

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-07-05 06:14:01

Mechanical axebeak is also flying, unlike what the name would make you think

Neon rédigé le 2017-05-10 21:46:38

If you don't have a mechanical Axebeak, like I didn't for a long time, two Mechanical Pandaren dragonlings easily win this fight. :)

Cohibadad rédigé le 2017-02-08 12:42:04

I have an SS Axebeak, but this strat fails repeatedly due to Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling. I've tried both with Decoy first and with Thunderbolt as well as just Breathing. When bringing in Axebeak to finish off Honky Tonk I highly recommend using Decoy. He can easily finish off Honky Tonk even before mechanical stage before getting to Fezwick. Overall, so far, this strategy has failed me much more than the old #1.

Evil rédigé le 2017-02-10 21:54:14

Impossible.. I am doing it since years and maybe failed 5/1000 fights only because Tonk stunned me (25% chance) and even if he stuns me, its usually still 1shot anyway.

Read detailed tactic below, in my post, this fight is super easy.

Cohibadad rédigé le 2017-02-11 10:15:48

Thanks. It used to say Decoy first. I changed to a P/P Axebeak and Thunderbolt first and it has worked everytime. Not sure if the P/P makes any difference but it definitely hits a lot harder on Fezwick.

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-02-12 02:01:41

Failed twice in a row.

Evil rédigé le 2017-02-12 04:14:16

Cohibadad devil in the details ^^ aka decoy vs thunderbolt opener (and breeds)

P/P Axebeak is the best (cause its flying pet) but S/S should work anyway, even with bad RNG u could just use Decoy (that u dont really need) > Haywire > Alpha Strike

but there is no point having other Axebeak than P/P (like most of flying pets)

SPEED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, it counters stuff so hard, f.e if u are faster and u use dodge, u actually dodges two rounds #hyjalwisp or some s/s rats ^^

Flying Pets have the most OP passive (arguable with mechanical, especially superfast mechanicals) 50% speed above 50% health

if u can outspeed your enemy, 2nd best stat is P=Power
which means (usually) P/P for flyings, S/S or P/S for the other pets.

Before u "failed twice in a row" like Anonymous did <3 use addons: BattlePetBreedID + PetBattleMaster

Breeds are as much important as your character 2ndary stats.

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-03-11 04:59:15

You cannot say that P/P is better or S/S is better. It differs for every tamer. On some tamers Speed is better (like you say dodge 2 rounds) on others Power is better because you can use the fact that your slower to your advantage.

Remte

rédigé le 2017-03-12 12:42:13

He said that for this specific pet, not as a general rule. :P
Personally I regard flyers as pretty complicated.

Evil rédigé le 2017-03-16 00:27:02

Anonymous did u read my whole post? ;)

If u are faster than enemy u dodge 2 rounds with Dodge abilities

Flying pets have 50% speed above 50% HP so they almost always open, which makes P/P best breed for Flying pets for MOST OF FIGHTS (never said all of them) especially this one.

Remte what is complicated with flying pets? ^^
They are just OP when above 50% hp, but below they are still very good (especially if u have S/S flying pet with good abilities, that can still outspeed your enemy even if u are below 50% HP)

Marzen rédigé le 2017-02-10 13:11:31

Minor comment - your instructions are a bit unclear on Turn 3... it should read, "Use Thunderbolt and Decoy on cooldown and otherwise Breath until both Judgment and Honky-Tonk die." (no "s" on "die", if you care)

Evil rédigé le 2017-02-06 00:37:54

Thanks for posting this tactic as a number 1 <3

but...

You guys need to get one thing clear (there s a lot comments about what to use 1st "decoy or thunderbolt?!"

The Answer is: Thunderbolt>Decoy>Breath as a filler untill your MPD is dead

TL;DR aka Longer Explanation (below)

I ve tested both ways, I am doing it every single day, since years, when DMF is up :P

This is very easy fight, just use Thunderbolt FIRST then Decoy, you will never fail, i promise!

The reason why you want Thunderbolt 1st (over Decoy) is delaying the fight for your Cooldowns, so you wont kill 1st pet before your 2nd Thunderbolt which brings enemy Tonk pretty low.

but if you use Decoy 1st, it may fck up everything!

There is a lot of RNG vs Tonk! Sometimes he will use his 2 rounds ability, which gives u 1 free damage round, but sometimes he wont... >.<

This is why you want to hit Tonk with second Thunderbolt, and then in worst scenario finish with Mechanical Axebeak's -> Alpha Strike.

PS: I used to hate this monkey so much!! (when i didnt know much about pet battles) and then i found out this awesome pet-Mechanical Axebeak which makes it trivial ^^

When Tonk is dead, it is VERY EASY! Next part is just a faceroll...

Monkey joins the fight, you bring level 1 pet (don't attack) swap back to Mechanical Axebeak

Haywire -> Alpha Strike

Hey Evil!
Your original suggestion gave two options and you were saying they are roughly equally viable:
Decoy -> Thunderstorm -> ...
Thunderstorm -> Decoy -> ...

I found that using Decoy first will give let you use it again against Honky-Tonk one round earlier as well, often making a huge difference. What made you change your mind here?

Evil rédigé le 2017-02-06 23:13:49

I didnt change my mind, just some people prefere Decoy 1st, i prefere Thunderbolt 1st, so i just gave two options, but imo Thunderbolt 1st is more reliable.

Quoting myself

"2 alternatives, some people use method A, some method B, doesnt really matter, BUT I PREFERE METHOD A" :P

METHOD A: Thunderbolt on CD > Decoy on CD > Spam Breath
METHOD B: Decoy on CD > Thunderbolt on CD > Spam Breath

anyway if people are failing with method B, Something's Not Quite Right ;) this fight is very easy with both methods, tho i find method A better, like i explained above.

my explanation yesterday was, because i saw Maelenn's post.

Aranesh

rédigé le 2017-02-11 03:04:47

Okay, I changed it to method A now :-)

Maelenn rédigé le 2017-02-05 17:52:47

Hello, there! I just met you in game a few days ago and was very honored :) I'm trying this new strat right now (feb 5th) but you do not mention anything on Judgement. And it is not working for me, pets die too early...

Aranesh

rédigé le 2017-02-06 07:36:54

Hey Maelenn, it was nice meeting you ingame indeed :)
The fail risk for this strategy is very, very low. You should not have any problems. But perhaps it's the breed of your Mechanical Axebeak. Which one are you using?

Evil rédigé le 2017-02-06 23:22:04

Yeah breeds are important.

best breed for flying pets in most situations is P/P and 2nd best is P/S

(best two breeds for other families most of the time too)

another best breed is S/S vs fights where u have to be faster than your enemy, and your pet isnt flying one)

Summing things up.

Best breeds in general: PS >= SS > PP

for flying pets PP > PS > sometimes SS > other ones.

Breeds addon: BattlePetBreedID must have for any pet battler

:)

Phux rédigé le 2017-02-07 10:04:03

What they're saying is that you left out Judgement entirely. You only have Honky-tonk and Fez mentioned. It doesn't make sense the way its written. I'm assuming you left out Breath until Judgement is dead (or something like that) as step one

Aranesh

rédigé le 2017-02-07 15:15:58

It's because you should follow the Turn 3+ instruction until both Judgement AND Honky-Tonk are dead :-) The MPD should always be able to take down Judgement. But I'll make it a bit clearer now.

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-02-05 10:36:36

This is a much nicer strat than the old one with the Tonk. Seems reliable.
