i don't know if it was luck, RNG, or 9.1 changes, but i ended up a round ahead by Round 7 - Slasher died a round early; didn't make a difference to me being able to survive & win (or how the strat works - you just toss in an extra "Deep Burn"), but what it did mean is that when my Stormwing came out in the last round, i could use "Lift-Off" immediately, so Pounder's "Explode" didn't hit me at all!

Can also use Mechanical Axebeak as third, just use Decoy and Pounder will kill itself with explode.

Used a Flamering Moth 1/1/2, Golden Dawnfeather 1/1/2, Stormwing 2/1/1. DIdn't need Stormwing. Make sure you time Cocoon Strike for Slashers attack that is affected by prowl.

This helped immensely! With this setup, Flamering Moth almost soloed. Basically, use cocoon whenever the next enemy attack is buffed. Otherwise sleep on cd and burn 'em down, literally!

Possibly breed (PP Fel-Afflicted Skyfin, SB Firewing) or possibly RNG, my Firewing kept dying early enough that I had to bring my third pet in, and it couldn't kill Pounder fast enough or keep it's health high enough to survive the final explosion.

I ended up using a Northern Hawk Owl (PS, 1/1/1) in my third slot and switching to it when Firewing wasn't going to survive another hit, then using Call Darkness, Nocturnal Strike, Savage Talon).
