Used Alarm-o-Bot instead of Mechanical Axebeak. Had to Alpha Strike a couple more times than suggested above but it worked fine.

This strategy did not work for me 4/4 times. Tinyhoof survives with 42 HP unless you crit it.

TInyhoof survived with about the 40 you mention, so I simply killed it with my Axebeak and then Decoy, and continue strat. My Axebeak was faster than Glitterwing though so perhaps that helped.
