UPDATE: This strategy by Rikade on Wowhead still works as of the Shadowlands pre-patch. As stated in the comments below if you have a P/S, P/P, P/B Starlette AND you get critted by Otto, you will die and have to start over. It doesn't happen very often from my experience with a P/B Starlette.

I'm not sure if it's just bugged. I noticed something when I ran this today. Sweep may hit Syd, but he's twice ignored switching. I thought I some how missed with sweep even though it's a 100% hit rate, but when I looked back in the combat log, it hit everytime, he just didn't switch out annoyingly.

Just retry again, it worked on and off with that exact issue for me. (edited)

No idea what changed because this strat worked fine for me until today. Similar to what Samurai wrote, "sweep" did not cause Syd swap out despite the fact that it is hitting. I had to try another strat because it kept failing.

Hello, everyone! I went and checked, and because of some changes they've made to DoTs, the DoT on Toxic Smoke was no longer eating a charge of the Bubble.

I have added instructions to the strat and the script to Batter if Syd's Bubble is still up, and that seems to have solved the issue.

Sorry it took a while to check this out, but hopefully this helps!

Current script seems busted, Enchanted Broom does not swap out and gets killed by Otto. I had to revert to https://www.wow-petguide.com/Comment/44516 which is no longer 100% but still works *most* of the time. (edited)

Unfortunately, this strategy is not working in The War Within prepatch. Iron Starlette cannot survive to take the 2nd shield off of Syd, so the Sweep misses after the leveling pet swap.

This is one of those nice strats that works well enough even if you accidentally do things out of order. Forgot to Sweep to bring in Mr. Pointy and killed Syd first. Wind-up x3 finished it off like normal.

Still works great manually. Like the OP said up there, sometimes it'll fail and your mech will die before the bubble is removed from Syd, so your level pet has to manually hit it. For this reason I never use a level 1 here, and I never use a script. My mech is PP breed.

For anyone else having trouble, check to make sure that your Enchanted Broom is rare quality. My Starlette was dying incredibly early because Syd was getting to use the DOT ability before he got swept out. This was happening because the Uncommon quality broom does not have enough speed to sweep out Syd beforehand, but the Rare quality broom does.

Tried this again, almost a year later, this time following the strat posted by Rikade. It worked exactly as advertised. For the record, Bubble wasn't up on Syd when my Broom came in.

With a P/P Starlette you have to cast Toxic Smoke a 4th time but it dies before it gets to hit it. Still works fine but that part did confuse me for a second, never had my P/P survive that long before.

I am confused on your thing here. You have enchanted broom as 2/2/2, yet you say to use Sweep, which is slot 1. Then on the start you mention to use Sweep in the first attack and then say Otto comes in next, which he comes as the last one and syd comes out first.

Nice that my strat from Wowhead have found their way here as well.
If the strat fails, it is because Iron Starlette dies too early. In this case you have to break the Bubble on Syd with your Enchanted Broom. For this you have to use Batter, after you brought your Enchanted Broom in. When the Bubble is broken then continue the strat as described. With these adjustments it happens very rarely that the fight has to be restarted after Iron Starlette dies too soon. Since it is my strategy I would like to adjust it above, but I cannot as it has been shared by someone else here.

The whole strat looks then like this:

01 - Sweep - Otto is forced in
02 - Wind-Up (only one time)
03 - Switch pet to Iron Starlette
04 - Wind-Up
05 - Supercharge
06 - Wind-Up - Otto dies

01 - Toxic Smoke - till Iron Starlette dies
02 - Switch Pet to Level-Pet
03 - Switch Pet to Enchanted Broom
04 - Batter - only if Bubble is up on Syd
05 - Sweep - Mr. Pointy is forced in
06 - Wind-Up - till Mr. Pointy dies

I highly recommend this strat over this one https://www.wow-petguide.com/?Strategy=7609. I have now failed 4 times in a row with a H/P Starlette on this current strat. Linked strat doesn't show it as a leveling slot but it is. Scarlette does an Explode at the end to kill Otto - and man is it satisfying seeing that cow explode after all those failed attempts.

If you get crit by Otto on your low health starlette (mine is P/P) you can still recover! I've done this a few times now and it seems to work reliably:

- Otto gets a crit on your starlette
- Failsafe triggers, then Otto dies and Syd comes in
- Syd: Whirlpool, Starlette: toxic smoke
- Syd: Bubble, Starlette: toxic smoke
- Syd: Water jet, kills Starlette; whirlpool detonates on nothing. Bring in level pet.
- Swap to your broom; Syd uses water jet
- Batter to remove bubble; Syd creates another whirlpool
- Sweep
- Continue with the strategy as posted

The broom gets hit by an extra whirlpool but still manages to kill Syd in the end. I imagine the script could be updated with a line like this to accommodate it (have not tested):
ability(Batter:455) [enemy(#1).aura(Bubble:933).exists]

If you are using a P/S, P/P, or possibly even a P/B Iron Starlette you will not survive being critted by Otto. Do yourself a favor and get an H/P or an H/H from the AH and use that. I haven't had a problem since replacing my P/P with an H/H for this fight, even when Otto crits. (edited)

Sweep misses on Syd because he still has his bubble up. He needs to be attacked by Toxic Smoke twice to remove it. The residual damage from the poison effect of Toxic Smoke does not count. Thus, if Iron Starlette is killed before it can cast a second Toxic Smoke, sweep won't work and the fight is pretty much over. This happens when Otto gets a crit on Iron Starlette during her turn. And don't tell me Otto isn't a she, because all cows and heifers are.

Just lost 2 times in a row with this strat. Iron starlette is PS. The cow deleted the iron starlette and procced his racial. He killed the cow then but was unable to stand against Syd and remove his bubble.

I had the exact same situation today, which was a bit unusual considering the length of time I've used this strategy. Third attempt was fine, though. It simply was a string of bad luck crits by Otto in the prior two attempts.

If the cow lands a critical strike at any point, you're better off conceding and starting over. (edited)

You want to soak the Darkmoon Curse before bringing out your Starlette and that way you also have the Broom's Wind-Up ready for when it comes back out.

The breed of the Iron Starlette cannot be P/P.

It can be P/P but if your Starlette get hit by any crit a any point you will have to restart. I guess a H/H will work better but I don't have one atm FeelsBadMan

My Iron Starlette is just PB and I still manage fine. Sure, it drops quite low but the strategy works

This. Strat said reliable so i tried it out. Had a P/P starlette and he didn't get the third toxic smoke off.

I just used a PP Iron Starlette and the strat worked fine for me. Maybe you guys are getting bad luck and being hit by crits? Not sure but it worked for me!

@Scrapbookee Yeah I failed 3 times with my PP Starlette, swapped to PB and it worked fine. If Otto crits with his attacks there's a chance with PP breeds that Starlettes passive triggers before Syd gets swapped in, resulting in this strat failing.
