If this is true, the Manafiend should have a HP>1481 qualifier.

Edit: yeah it's true. The original strat was fine, but the substitutes need to be filtered to have more health than Legs.

Also, this strat could fail to crits and/or a double 3-shot of Slicing Wind, but should work often enough for a one-off challenge battle. You shouldn't need to try again many times. (edited)

Since I had Coilfang Stalker leveled instead of Legs and it had more health than my Manafiends I simply led with it, followed by Empowered and Eldritch Manafiends. Each used Arcane Storm -> Surge of Power, and the Stalker closed with Surge when brought back in.

This doesn't seem to work post SL pre-patch. I've tried several strats from various sources but Gloamwing is doing massive damage and taking very little. Each time I've passed on first move, the last pet is pulled in, not the Manafiend. Wasting a turn putting the Manafiend in doesn't work. I've tried minor adjustments to compensate for the last pet being first up, but for no result.

Strat worked great, although you should change the pet requirements for it -- add alternatives to coilfang stalker, since all it needs to be is a magic-class that can do surge of power, and there are many of those.

Strat no longer works at least as of 8.2.5. Tried five times w/ the exact setup, ever worked. Will come up 112 HP short every time.

Edit: 100% dependent on getting a Surge crit. If you don't crit, give up.

This worked great, I used my Erudite Manafiend ( 1485 HP), and my Minfernal/Netherspace Abyssal both (1400 HP), easy Surge of Power at the end :)

1 - Pass, trunks comes in
2 - Moonlight
3 - Avalanche
4 - When Elekks Fly. If this misses, restart (50% chance). EM forced in.
5 - Arcane Storm
6 - Surge of Power

I didn't need to, but you may need to use 1 ability on your 3rd pet (lantern is good). Also, if EM comes in before Trunks, that is fine, but you may waste more time waiting for When Elekks Fly to connect.

Thanks for this strat, even though it failed every time for me as written (with Coilfang (H/B), Eldritch (P/S) and Mindslayer (P/S). I got it to work finally by using Life Exchange on turn 3. Still used Inner Vision as written on turn 2, even though it did nothing for me as a result of my change. Hope this helps someone else.

I used Life Exchange on turn 2, and then went straight to Mana Surge. That way, I got in two surges, and ended up being switched out and surviving! When I tried to use Inner Vision, I never got Gloamwing low enough to kill with the second surge. Life Exchange and double mana surge worked like a charm tho.

I used Erudite Manafiend H/S (1,2,1) instead of the Empyreal Manafiend and ALSO Eldritch Manafiend P/S (1,2,1) instead of Legs cause mine was lvl 2. Worked same strat as shown here first try :)

Legs were in as second pet
Laser->Surge of power
Ozeling next
Expunge->Corrosion
Eldritch in the end Soulrush, missed stun, but dots killed him

He only did 2 slicing winds both times, so maybe just luck.

Had to do it a few times, but any pets with the arcane storm/surge combo should do it.

You can very much lose this fight without him getting any crits. You can only get hit by 3 slicing winds in the first few rounds.

After about 25 tries I actually made this work with 1 hit in first slicing winds and 2 hits in second slicing winds. Don't use this strategy, it's way too much RNG

Ended with all 3 alive. Would have been cake if the other Blood Boil had been S/S. Drain Blood wrecks his day.

You can substitute an Eldritch/Erudite Manafiend (1/2/1) (pet battles in Azsuna) for the Empyreal Manafiend, so long as its a breed with more than 1481hp. They have the benefit of being high level when caught if you haven't leveled up the Empyreal.
