just now did it so looks like something may have changed since beta. In 100s of attempts prior black claw+ turrent always got the kill in 1 turret round. This time was left with a few hundered hp. ( still should work just not as cleanly)

Use Teroclaw hatchling instead of clockwork gnome.

Even though alpha strike is "weak" against dragonkin. with black claw and the Lightning storm. just 2 alpha strikes without any rng will kill stormlash. And you only recieve 1 weak dragonkin buffed roar which does litterly no damage at all. Then your hatchling will just wreck Whiskers. And you can predict when he cast survival and you then switch to your level 1 carry pet and back to your hathcling ;)

Confirming this. Works like a charm, way better than CW Gnome.

For Whiskers (might need a bit more testing):
- Alpha Strike
- Dodge (Dive misses on this turn)
- Alpha Strike
- Alpha Strike*
- swap to carry
- swap to Teroclaw
- Dodge (Dive misses on the next turn)
- Alpha Strike - done.

*: Skip this one if Whiskers is around 30% (~480 HP) due to crits and proceed to swapping.

I came across this on accident. trying to make a speed kill strat. i looked at the last pet. being still a noobie. i didnt realize that alpha strike whould be weak against stormlash. Then i thought. Hmm why not try it out with lighting storm and black claw. and to my suprise. it just wrecked stormlash ;P

AoE strat. 1st pet any +325 speed + pet change skill - i use Enchanted Broom + Sweep. Then 2nd your pet - any AoE pet with heal - Pandaren Fire Spirit - 2-2-1 AoE with 1st skill, heal with last one. Once you can use your low level pet. Long time start. But it is easy one without problems

Your strategy work if Zandalari Anklerender has breath PP.
If Zandalari Anklerender has breath SS then the fight take more time, since your strategy only use Leep(364).

Your strategy do not swap to leveling pet.

This strat plain does not work with a P/S Zandalari Anklerender. Chirrup casts Sunlight -> Photosynthesis and then Leap never kills it since it regens about as much as Leap deals every turn.

551 HP left happens common and the enemy does use survival already at that point, every time. Could be clearer to update the guide to say 551. I'm 95% sure the actual trigger limit is 35% hp, in this case 560. Though not sure if it's <560 or <=560.

If you're using the P/P Anklerender you can just Leap as there's very unlikely to be any difference in the number of rounds needed to kill Chirrup (typically 4 rounds).

This strat is wayyyyy too unreliable bc when the 2nd pet comes in, if it casts its huge whirlwind attack, it kills the Anklerender and doesn't get Black Claw on it. You have to restart the fight and seems like Stormrender casts that spell 90% of the time as its first spell.

Yes, she will always casts that spell. But your Zandalari Anklerender should always go first, thanks to you useing LEAP to kill Chirrup and be able to cast Black Claw before she casts Call Lightning that will kill your Zandalari Anklerender. What breed is your Zandalari Anklerender? I have a P/B and P/S Zandalari Anklerender and this has never failed for me with either of them. Since they are not a P/P they don't help the Clockwork Gnome kill Stormlash right when it comes in, but always gets Black Claw cast.

My guess is your not casting Leap as the last skill to kill Chirrup. Leap MUST be used otherwise it will fail.

This didn't work for me either because my anklerender had a crit and killed chirrup in the two bites, no time for a leap. So, he didn't get the speed boost to go first.

Strategy works perfectly, but Whiskers at 551 HP still uses Survival. Might want to change the Turn 4 instructions in the strat or it will fail at 551 HP.

I'm testing when to bring in a level Pet at this time. It needs to come in when Whiskers is going to use the skill Survival. He'll do that once he is at a certain amount of hit points (HP). So may need to skip Turn 5 depending on Whiskers HP. testing this right now. Its around 500 to 700 is all I know right now.

You should get a higher damage breed of your Anklerender. Try for P/P. If turret doesn't one-shot Stormlash you're not getting enough extra damage per black claw proc.

This strat does not deserve the 1st position.
305 attack Zandalari does not help to kill dragon in 1 turn.
That trigger Gnome to be vulnerable to Whiskers.
Even you swap in level 1 pet in Turn 7 (not turn 6 obviously).
Gnome will get killed when swapped back in.

Clockwork Gnome's turret does not kill Stormslash on turn 1 for me. He does not die until turn 2. I'm also finding that if I swap in my level pet on turn 6, Whiskers kills him. I have to swap him in on turn 7.

Exactly the same situation for me. Build turret does not one short Stormlash so I have to Metal Fist afterwards to finish him off.
I have an addon to track the other team's ability cooldowns and swap in my levelling pet when he is due to dive, but it isn't turn 6 as stated.

Wow. This is simply arithmetically true. I've been using a similar strat on Aki for years, hundreds of battles, and never noticed that it needs a P/P Anklerender.

Stormlash has 1769 HP.
Here's the numbers from the Battle Log:
Using Turret with Black Claw from an S/S Anklerender gives three hits on Stormlash consisting of 199 from Turret and 307 from Lightning Storm = 3*(199+307) = 1518

Using Turret with Black Claw from an P/P Anklerender gives three hits on Stormlash consisting of 232 from Turret and 359 from Lightning Storm = 3*(232+359) = 1773

So the Black Claw from a P/P Anklerender only just guarantees the kill by 4HP. Of course, a crit from a less powerful breed would also do the trick about a third of the time.

I am not clear where those numbers come from. Possibly I'm tired, and missing something obvious. I'll leave the elements here, and get back to it.
Basic Turret does 124. S/S Black Claw does 118. P/P Black Claw does 144. Lightning Storm adds 25% to Mechanical damage, and 35 per hit in Stormlash's case.

I finish the strat differently:
Stormlash Dies
Whiskers Enters
Swap in Level Pet (as Whiskers Dives)
Swap back Gnome (to take the hit from the Dive)
Turret
Metal Fist
Whiskers dies from turrets

That also may require a P/P.

So I looked at this again using an S/S Anklerender.
After Build Turret, you need a Metal Fist to finish Stormlash.

Then Repair. You will hit zero and Failsafe during the repair.

As Anon wrote when starting this comment, swapping your level pet in on Turn 6 results in it getting hit with a Surge.

Unfortunately, I accidentally killed Whiskers with a crit, so that's all I can do for today.

I assume you're using the Rematch string. I have to add specific pets in the string, although here on the guide it is not specified. I can't change it to a variable that uses your highest level fox available, because Rematch does not support such a function (yet?).

However, you can change the fox in your setup and overwrite the team in Rematch. It should then use the correct fox every time you load the team :-)

Thanks for introducing me to this strat. It was very entertaining - once.

Whiskers died about Round 30, OK, but Stormlash held on until nearly 40. The battle ended on Round 55.

Never again! :)

I was really struggling coming up with a good strat for this fight, since back in Pandaria I never used it to power level pets. While looking through the net I came across this Lava Crab strat. Loved it because it's so stupid yet effective (not to confuse with efficient :D ). One time indeed, but hey it's an alternative to bring elekk plushie along if you don't have the other pets for it!
