I used Nexus Whelping 1,2,1 (level 24) because I did not have discarded experiment.
Used mana surge and one tail sweep. Got it on the first try with Stormborn Whelpling at 1/3 health left.

I used this team and won the battle but did not get credit in the Traveler's Log for the win. I then realized you have to use at least 2 Dragonkin pets on your team to beat these Pet Tamers. That means winning with this team won't earn any Travel points for credit towards the 1000 needed to earn the mount.

Hmm, this team does use 2 Dragonkin. It may be because you need to beat all 4 trainers with the "2 dragonkin" requirement before receiving the travelers log points.

I never thought of that. The Log looks like is should show your progress. Each Trainer starts out at 0/1 so I thought that was how I would keep track; like on all the other ways to earn points. Each of the other objectives keeps track of your progress, like my Dragonscale Expedition World Quest currently shows 2/10.
Since Emberflint didn't change to 1/1 with the win, the only reason I could think of was it meant actual pets from Dragon Isles since Experiment was a drop from Blackwing Descent, and the Whelpling was from Stormheim. I will do all the others now and see if just this one way to earn points keeps track differently.
When it comes to consistency there is never a dull moment with Blizzard. Thank you so very much. That is a lot easier than building teams using Dragon Isles pets!!!

As best as I recall doing the Travel thing this month, it did switch to 1/1 as soon as you had completed the battle successfully. I suspect Narzuek meant that you don't get your Travel points until completing all.

If you used exactly this team and are not seeing 1/1 against Excavator Morgrum Emberflint, I don't know what happened.

I never did find out what happened. Each of the next battles showed 1/1 once they were done. At the end of the last battle I still did not have credit for this first win. When I did the battle again, I received credit for a win but it remains a mystery.

Didn't have Discarded Experiment. Used Emmigosa 2,1,1 instead. Got in a Surge of Power instead of 2nd breath before Emmigosa died. Worked fine.
