I used a Cockroach instead of a Scarab Hatchling, and a Rapana Whelk. My Hatchling died the same round as Lilly died, I brought my cockroach in and it was swapped out for my snail even though my snail was higher health. I had to wing things a little toward the end but won.

Agreed on the RNG factor - three (edit: four) times Lilly has taken out my Darkmoon Hatchling before Predatory Strike /sigh. Basically, if Lilly gets more than two tongue lashes out, you're hooped. (edited)

Rather than a Scarab Hatchling, I used a H/H cockroach for this. Not only did it mean I got the potential for more turns, but because its health was higher than the snail's, it was the snail that got brought out when Wing Buffet was used, thus skipping a turn of empty swapping.
I don't know how much of a difference it made (since the name of the game is survival anyway) but in the end, *I* felt safer!
