First two attempts ended in a draw, third attempt went well enough that Kelpfin never entered the fight. I believe what made the difference for me is that it wasn't enough that none of my pets received a critical strike, but that my pets also had to land critical strikes on the enemy's pets.

This may warrant an RNG tag, much as I dislike saying it.
