Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Small chance level pet gets no xp
Pet Bombling can work but RNG.

At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

I just had my first failure with this strategy and have been using this since 11.0 came out (greater than 99.0 %). Great strategy.

Thanks. Yeah sorry for the loss, there is a very slight theoretical chance you loose but could not work out a way to get rid of it :p

Low EXP. Got 1.827 during pet week with Safari Hat.
Still always nice to have quick strategies that include level pets

No fights BfA and onward are worth using for leveling. No shade to making leveling strats for the fights, but Blizzard nerfed the xp values into the dirt when they made the enemies available 24/7 in BfA and onward.

Yeah exactly. I used to make all leveling pet starts as people seemed to really enjoy them but my general rule of thumb is only ones that give roughly 1k xp (single enemies normally) and if it doesnt add to much time. Otherwise it's really not worth it :-p

Ok, I've used this load in at least ten battles, and got my first loss. So, pretty good, rarely fails, so far.

(OP) WhyDaRumGone

What breed / pet were you using?

Fyonella#2195

wrote on 2024-09-19 16:23:58

It works fine but the way it is written is decidedly non-standard. For example: Iron Starlette- why is it written that Priority 1 is Explode IF Toxic Smoke has been used first?? Surely that's actually Priority 1 - Toxic Smoke, Priority 2 Explode? Likewise the instructions for the first pet are also sort of written backwards in the same way. (edited)

(OP) WhyDaRumGone

wrote on 2024-09-20 04:09:46

If I went Priority 1 toxic smoke I would have to put a caveat that it must hit hence I would have to write.
I would also have to then change the order of Armageddon to make it after FB / RT.

From a strat creator point of view I like to highlight what's needed to Explode rather than making Explode the default as someone could interpret using toxic smoke and Explode whether it hits or not.

Fyonella#2195

wrote on 2024-09-21 13:18:05

But all of the abilities you're talking about are 100% hit chance. I still think the way it's written is ass backwards!

(OP) WhyDaRumGone

wrote on 2024-09-21 17:06:32

No they don't because the enemy can use burrow and dodge your abilities.

Puny

wrote on 2024-09-23 10:57:33

I agree with the others, this is really poorly written. The strat works, it's great, but the instructions are backwards.

(OP) WhyDaRumGone

wrote on 2024-09-24 08:27:51

Having it the other way could create a situation where people follow the steps blindly. With it being at the top, it ensures they have to read what is the highest priority so they know as soon as the debuffs are applied to use Armageddon.
Around the other way, if they don't read the caveats, they'll use it turn 3 no matter what, when it might be needed turn 4 but everyone understands not to use it turn 1.
Either way the correct information is shown whether you like the order or not but I prefer it this way for the reasons above.
It's also how scripts are read, with highest priority being top and working down to default moves unless there is a set steps but unfortunately the Hungry Worm can dodge, so can't use set steps.

Anyway, it's the way I like it so feel free to change the notes to however you like. You can even post what you wrote here against this comment and if others like it they can copy them :) (edited)

You don't seem to want to accept that it's not logical the way it's written and nothing anyone says will change your mind.

The Prio is not to Armageddon, that's the issue, that's why it reads so badly. Like Yoda wrote the instructions. The priority is to apply Razor talons and get a flame breath on the target.

(OP) WhyDaRumGone

wrote on 2024-09-24 10:25:31

You don't seem to get that I will not change it and like it this way. Your more than welcome to come up with your own strats and write them however you like but again I will not be changing it!
Note: The priority is Armageddon WHEN the buffs are applied!

missteelee

wrote on 2024-09-24 11:33:32

I use them and it works but Puny you wrote that the priority is to apply Razor talons and get a flame breath on the target but the priority is to use flame breath then use Razor talons

Facetious#1105

wrote on 2024-09-20 22:30:32

This... is written very confusingly. The way I did it, upon reading, was:

1. Bring out Timeless Mechanical Dragon
2. Use Flame Breathe
3. Use Razor Talons
4. Use Armageddon
5. Bring out Iron Starlette
6. Use Toxic Smoke
7. Explode - Zaedu dies at end of turn from dots

The use of 'priorities' here is confusing. We don't immediately press Armageddon / Explode, we wait until we've pressed the other moves first. Therefore, it is not a priority - it is the end goal. When we say priority in this game, it's in the sense of which DPS / etc move to use when there's multiple available. Therefore 'priority' doesn't make a lot of sense here. Thank you for the strategy, but I will need to replace your notes with my own.

(OP) WhyDaRumGone

wrote on 2024-09-21 04:38:56

You're more than welcome to use your own notes but Priority it fine here as there is not fixed steps.
