As mentioned before already, patch 7.1 also brought a new type of pet including some really cool quest chains (with mounts as rewards!). One part of the quest chain is to complete pet battle world quests with your Falcosaur pet. However the quest seems to be either worded in a misleading way or is simply not working as intended. All you need to do is do pet battle world quests while your Falcosaur is summoned! Many sources confirm this, but of course it might change.
But for now, just summon your Falcosaur, make sure it isn't exchanged with another pet (some addons do this automatically!) and you're good to go :-)

And for the Team Up quests, I can confirm that the falcosaur does NOT need to be in the pet battle, it only need to be summoned, but the summoning sometimes cancels for no reason, so be sure to check that it's still summoned before you make the killing blow in the battle.

The accepting and turning in on different characters does indeed work and means you can complete more than one quest a day per pet.
