This strat worked 4/5 times for me today. If you get a really unlucky crit your crab can die early. If that happens, you should restart. Good luck!
The healthy crab seems to work best so he can survive long enough to get in those surges. |

Nov 21 2020 Update: Because of the changes to pet battles in pre-patch, the strategy needed to be slightly adjusted. It still works without RNG as long as Bucky doesn't crit your first pet with either of his Void Gates. Apologies to anyone who was led astray by the outdated strategy and for putting off re-testing this fight for so long. |

DragonsAfterDark: In OP's absence, strategy has been updated for SLs changes. 1. Octopode Fry has replaced the Abyssal Slitherling to use Acid Touch instead of Water Jet. The Slitherling was not surviving anymore to eat the Void Gate, so we bring in the Magical Crawdad to eat it and set up Whirlpool. 2. To make sure you don't need to start & forfeit fights to lose health and have pets 2 & 3 swap properly, and to get the most out of the Acid Touch damage, the Swamp Croaker has been swapped for the Skitterling. 3. Slot 1 has remained the same, but a health restriction was placed on to make sure we have a pet survive if the Skitterling is crit. |

After that:
Priority 1: If Rip is up, and Blood In the Water is ready, do Blood In the Water.
