This Manta Ray has two Beast attacks and an empowered Flyby X which will increase the damage your pet takes by 25% for 5 rounds (classic Flyby does for 3 rounds).

I am using a Black Claw + Swarm ability pet in the first slot to buff attacks of my Dragonkin. The script includes Flock and Swarm because when these 8.2 pet battles go live, the Aquatic pet Chitterspine Skitterling will be available as a wild catch in Nazjatar and it has Black Claw and Swarm. Please do not use Hunting Party pets.

The Skitterling will take more damage from Flyby X so there's a chance it will die 1 round earlier than Flying pets and you can benefit of 2 rounds Shattered Defenses and Black Claw.

I guess this must be breed dependent, it won't work at all with PS Ikky, never get past the first round of flock so never get shattered defences. I tried at least 10 times, didn't work once.

Ikky has only a P/S breed. It has no other breed.

Is your Ikky perhaps Green-Quality?

Just don't bother using Black Claw. Flock will complete prior to Ikky getting killed and will leave shattered defenses. Nexus Whelping comes in with Storm & Surge and Silence dead. Only 1 once did I ever have to bring in 3rd pet

I did this with Yu'la in place of Ikky, using Life Exchange followed by Celestial Blessing (provides dmg reduction for the Nexus Whelpling) and let Yu'la die. Tried with both p/s and p/b whelping, never needed 3rd pet. Whelpling did arcane storm+mana surge.

very RNG heavy fight. first time I did it, only got one flock off with ikky, and one arcane storm off with nexus whelpling. 3rd pet didn't kill him, and got killed instead; 2nd go-round, I was able to finish him off with first 2 pets.

tossed in a leveling pet in slot 3. (24 swamplighter firefly) pure luck my whelpling died and the last pet got full credit.

On my first try, my PP Nexus Whelpling died because of two unfortunate crits. I repeated the fight and it went a lot better, didn't even need a third pet. Thanks!
