Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

If a crit throws your dragonkin racial off the sequence, just pass the round you'd have it wasted on killing Deebs.

H/S Bronze Whelpling works, if you cast "Lift-Off" in the last round with Deebs, but the fight will take longer this way.

I am surprised to see a search shows this team is the "most common" Squirt team and the Broom+Boneshard team is "second most efficient" team. For me, one broom and 3 Boneshards means 3 battles before needing to heal. I keep Boneshard in until he dies and then I bring in the Broom; I try to avoid giving my opponent 2 shots at a pet unless the strat calls for it! The Broom is ALWAYS only hit once by puzzle and can actually do more than 3 battles and still have enough health left to again get hit that one time. I have played around with finding a replacement for Boneshard that would give me more battles before healing since I have more than one broom as well. Surprisingly, walking over to heal when my heal is on cooldown seems to take about as long as one battle takes!

Speaking for myself, and many others, bandage supply is basically infinite so healing between fights is irrelevant

Just a word of advice to newcomers. :) Whelpling should have an S/S breed, it means that it needs to have 325 speed. It seems that all people who had issues with this strategy have overlooked exactly that detail. Have good luck with leveling up. :) It's a 100% error proof strategy that works no matter what and very fast as well (if not the fastest of all), as far as I know. And it's a rarity! (edited)

I did a power leveling marathon today with 431 level 1 pets :D And in 431 fights, it did happen twice that Turn 4 Spectral Strike missed (on Puzzle). Don't ask me why that can even happen with Prowl up. Anyway... considering the amount if time I had to sink into this - it is an awesome strategy

Sverch#2149

rédigé le 2021-02-12 11:49:56

I'm not sure what were your actions prior to that, but accoording to the strategy, the Darkness should be always up for (at the time of) the Spectral Strike. I've made ~200 fights with TD script (which automates the fight (crosses out human side errors)) and it hadn't failed even once. (edited)

I have found the same problem, but I've managed to isolate the issue. If you have an S/S pet that you are leveling, the dodge no longer happens on the turn you swap back to Widget. When you bring Widget back in, Puzzle does nothing until you take your action, which causes the Darkness to be gone by the time the Puzzle's Dodge is over. I would Prowl and Pounce and Spectral Strike, and another Pounce if needed, in that case.

If you're watching Netflix while leveling a queue of pets, you might accidentally enter battle again before healing.
This altered script will forfeit if you enter battle while any of your pets is dead, so you don't end up sitting there pointlessly pressing the Autobattle button while not paying attention.

After an hour of doing the Broom/Boneshard strategy, I can honestly say THIS is my favorite strategy. Far less annoying and about the same time to run.

Ackrax rédigé le 2023-01-03 18:24:37

I can't seem to get the TD script to work. It worked for years before, and now when I try to load the script I get and error message that says.Found error. Invalid conditioin. ememy(3).active9Not foundcmd: enemy active. I get the auto button but it is greyed out.

MKHASA rédigé le 2023-01-03 23:47:28

Same issue here, the "auto" button is greyed out. Anyone know of a fix / workaround?

ScottS rédigé le 2023-03-04 21:31:12

Does anyone have a workaround for this? This seems to be different than the problems seen below.

rédigé le 2021-07-12 17:10:38

If using the script, there are occasions when the script stops at the end without the enemy pet dying. This happens when the timing gets off between Puzzles' Dodge and Widget's Prowl causing Spectral Strike to go off while Puzzle is in dodge and can not be hit. I have fixed the script to account for this by adding the following line to the end of the script which uses Sprit Claws to finish off Puzzle:

use(Spirit Claw:974)

I tried this command and was disappointed. In 8 matches, I realized that with this team I can't upgrade dragons(because the cat gets 100% stunned and the dragon simply does not survive) and the cat doesn't get into the Puzzle..
It's not a bad team in terms of speed, but it has problems with the Puzzle.

This team is 100%, regardless of crits. And there are very few strats I'll say that about.

If it failed for you, my main guess is that you weren't using an S/S Bronze Whelpling.

My next guess would be that you were doing it wrong, or something went wrong with the damned script.

There are no other guesses, because there are no other ways for the strat to fail.

If you have the Wicker Pup from Drustvar you can use it to replace Widget. Ghostly Strike where you would Spectral Strike and Infected Claw where you would Prowl/Pounce, everything else is the same. There's a chance to fail as Ghostly Strike isn't 100% hit like Spectral Strike but I haven't failed yet and Widgets are 60k on my server. Here's a modified TDScript that works with an S/S Whelpling:

change(#3) [ enemy(#3).active & !self(#3).played ]
change(#2) [ self(#3).active ]
use(Early Advantage:405) [ enemy(#2).active ]
use(Tail Sweep:122)
ability(Ghostly Bite)
ability(Infected Claw)
standby [ self.aura(Stunned).exists ]
change(#2)

Just pass the Ghostly Bite stun on Puzzle and Infected Claw, the script will do it (edited)

Unkindlyhippo rédigé le 2020-06-02 21:21:14

I have found a better strat with easier to get pets.
Mechanical Panderan Dragonling (1/2/1) and Bone Serpent (2/1/1)
Start with Dragonling on Deeb.
Spam Breath till Deeb dies
Tyri comes out
Round 1: Thunderbolt
Round 2: Explode
Bring out Bone serpent
Round 1: Nocturnal Strike
Tyri dies here
Puzzle comes out
Round 1: Switch to Leveling pet
Round 2: Switch back to Bone serpent
Round 3: Consume
Round 4: Death and Decay
Round 5: Consume
Round 6: Death and Decay
Round 7: Death and Decay
Round 8: Consume
Round 9: Death and Decay
Roud 10:Consume
Win

Now few notes. One this was done with a slower B/B bone serpent you can do it with any breed and if you have a faster breed this fight probably is quicker. On Puzzle make sure you only consume on rounds that he has dodge on CD or when he hasn't fallen to 20% health as he will Town portal and dodge for one round.

My leveling pet with this strat and slow bone serpent does take one hit of the Omnislash but if your pet, even level 1, is at full health he will survive it. (edited)

Ok so please don't hammer me for this and I am far from an expert but I have read these comments over and over. I have both an S/S and an H/P and I am using the TDscript to ensure I am not making a mistake but Tyri one shots my Whelping every single time, on either. Tyri is always hitting first and it all goes downhill after that. You can check my PBs on Wow Pets if you want to check. So even with faster SS, why is Tyri always going first?

Gráinne

rédigé le 2020-01-28 11:02:48

OK, I have checked your pets here: https://wow-petguide.com/index.php?user=7614&display=Collection

You have a H/P Bronze Whelpling, but you do not have an S/S Bronze Whelpling. You do have an S/S Widget, but that's not the point.

A H/P Bronze Whelpling is too slow, and as you have seen, Tyri will go first and knock you out before you get your hit in.

If you got a Bronze Whelpling very recently, like this morning, so that it's not showing here yet, are you sure your new S/S Bronze Whelpling is levelled to 25?

Carista

rédigé le 2020-01-28 14:30:00

Gráinne

rédigé le 2020-01-28 14:47:59

It's still not showing. I don't know what to tell you. This strat works 100% with an S/S Bronze Whelpling.

An S/S Bronze Whelpling has a Speed of 325. Does your Bronze Whelpling have a speed of 325?

Tyri has a speed of 276. Since 325>276, the Bronze Whelpling goes first when Tyri comes out, getting in that essential Early Advantage double-hit before getting zapped.

Try it manually, without the script. Look at the shown speeds of your Bronze Whelpling and Tyri at the moment Tyri comes out. The clue must be there.

The Whelpling hits Tyri with Early Advantage.

Tyri kills Whelpling with Darkness.

You are saying that is exactly what is happening with you, up to the point where Tyri Calls Darkness before you get your Early Advantage off?

I redid that again and now it works like a charm! So user error I guess. Love this strategy, but there is a 1/1000 chance it will get 'stalled' on the final move if Puzzle manages to miss all 3 opportunities for it to hit Widget with a Coin Toss. I actually encountered it today. A simple solution, though, you just have to add one line to the end of the script so that Widget will use Spirit Claws to finish the fight.

Add this line to the end of the tdBattlePetScript:

use(Spirit Claws:974) (edited)

rédigé le 2019-05-24 15:40:11

someone pls explain to me how this is a very reliable strategy. Spectral strike doesn't one shot tyri like the guide says unless you use prowl first, if you use prowl first you get stunned which lets tyri attack your carry twice. if you have a lvl 1 carry with less than 150 hp he kills it everytime unless he happens to miss. and spectral strike has a 60% chance to miss puzzle, and when it does miss, you have to restart?

Nyari

rédigé le 2019-05-24 15:49:59

If you use the correct Bronze Whelpling (S/S breed) Spectral Strike will definitely one shot Tyri (he is blinded, because of Darkness).

rédigé le 2019-05-24 16:14:19

Can you take a screenshot from your pet battle combat log, upload and post it here or just pm me?

suutar rédigé le 2019-05-24 17:13:18

The way it's supposed to work is:
4 tail sweeps kills deebs. tyri comes in.
early advantage hits tyri, gets doubled because the dragon is lower health than tyri. Tyri casts darkness killing dragon; widget comes in
widget goes first and because darkness, guaranteed hits tyri with spectral trike, killing tyri before he does omnislash. Puzzle comes in.
swap to carry while puzzle dodges
swap back to widget in time to take damage from puzzle attack
prowl and take puzzle attack
spectral strike in the last turn of darkness is another guaranteed hit, boosted by prowl oneshots puzzle.

Now, I'm not in a position to try it myself at the moment, so what are you seeing happen differently than that sequence?

If you are having trouble with your HS/HP Bronze Whelpling and do have a P/P Infinite Hatchling from the Pandaria Timewalking vendor (2200 Time-Warped Badges), you can use this fast, easy, reliable strategy that was mentioned in earlier posts but never drawn out for ease of use.

Pet Slot 1: P/P Infinite Hatchling (2,1,2)
Pet Slot 2: S/S Widget the Departed (2,2,2)
Pet Slot 3: Leveling Pet

Rematch Notes:
Fast, Reliable, Easy

Start with Infinite Hatchling
Turn 1-3: Tail Sweep
Turn 4: Temporal Anomaly
Turn 5: Tail Sweep - Deebs dies; Tyri enters the fight
Turn 6: Early Advantage - Infinite Hatchling dies
Turn 7: Change to Widget the Departed (Weather is Darkness)
Turn 8: Spectral Spike - Tyri dies; Puzzle enters the fight
Turn 9: Change to Level Pet
Turn 10: Change back to Widget the Departed
Turn 11: Prowl
Turn 12: Spectral Strike - Puzzle dies; You Win!!

TDScript:
quit [self(#1).dead & self(#2).dead]
quit [self(#3).dead]
if [enemy(#1).active]
ability(Temporal Anomaly) [self.round=4]
ability(Tail Sweep)
endif
if [enemy(#2).active]
change(#2) [self(#1).dead]
ability(Early Advantage)
ability(Spectral Strike)
ability(Spirit Claws)
standby
endif
if [enemy(#3).active]
change(#3) [enemy.round=1]
change(#2) [self(#3).active]
ability(Prowl)
ability(Spectral Strike) [weather(Darkness)]
ability(Spirit Claws)
endif

Works as of 9/6/19 in patch 8.2. Happy Hunting, friends!

If you happen to have harder to get but earnable with patience Infinite Hatchling (MoP TW pet), you can use it instead of the Bronze, starting from Temporal Anomaly and then continuing as usual.

That also should you give more choice in picking up the support (opponents' speed 207 and 225 under the debuff) if you accept the 10% miss chance, but beware of the EA critting while hitting first time :(

EDIT: Now with an elemental, so no worries about hit chance:

Just to clarify the order when using the Hatchling:
Tail sweep x3
Temporal Anom
Tail sweep (Deebs dies)
Early advantage (Hatchling dies)

Rest remains the same as above. If you don't in this order you won't have the dragon buff to get Tyri down on the 2nd attack.

Seiri rédigé le 2017-07-12 15:49:23

I've written a script for this fight with a H/S Whelpling (I have every breed but the S/S x.x)

if [enemy(#1).active]
ability(170) [self.round=5]
ability(122)
endif
if [enemy(#2).active]
change(#2) [self.dead]
ability(405)
ability(442)
ability(974)
endif
if [enemy(#3).active]
change(#3) [enemy.round=1]
change(#2) [self(#3).active]
ability(536)
ability(442)
endif

I don't quite understand these scripts, so if something looks wonky, that's why - but I've used it a lot and it's never failed :)

PocketMage

rédigé le 2017-10-31 20:27:23

I've used this script for several hours of grinding and not once has it failed! The battle runs about 80 seconds which is much faster than alt 1 and you can bring a lvl 1 and a bit faster than even the Bone Shard variant of alt 3.

Neit rédigé le 2018-04-29 17:00:08

There is a slight chance of it getting stuck because of some weird crits from your whelpling. This fixes it:

if [enemy(#1).active]
ability(170) [self.round=5]
ability(122)
endif
if [enemy(#2).active]
change(#2) [self.dead]
ability(405)
ability(442)
ability(974)
standby
endif
if [enemy(#3).active]
change(#3) [enemy.round=1]
change(#2) [self(#3).active]
ability(536)
ability(442)
endif

I personally prefer the Enchanted Broom and Bonestorm strat over this one. However, I usually use them both. If I do each strat once then my heal is refreshed and I can heal without the use of any bandages or asking the the NPC to heal my pets.
BTW, a spectacular site and koodos for all the work that you put in to it.

gsanta

rédigé le 2018-07-13 13:37:42

Between rounds taken and animations this one is the fastest, so I use it exclusively. If I wait for the master to be nearest the ring before entering I don't even have to move to heal.

Devinwarr rédigé le 2018-07-18 03:33:33

This is true for the Horde garrison only. You can battle and heal without moving. The Alliance garrison pet healer does not walk close enough to achieve this though. Typical Horde favoritism by Blizz. KIDDING! But this is a fact. Test it yourself.

Zalid rédigé le 2017-07-12 13:40:01

TD script does not account for Widget getting stunned
Also strategy and script does not do anything after Spectral Strike is used against Tyri. I guess we revert to Spirit Claws and not just pass ?

suutar rédigé le 2017-11-29 11:43:56

Widget shouldn't be getting hit by anybody except Puzzle, who I've never seen stun. And Tyri shouldn't be surviving Spectral Strike. It's supposed to be: whelp kills deebs, takes tyri to half, dies to darkness. Widget finishes tyri with one shot (spectral), level pet swaps in while puzzle is setting up dodge, then widget one-shots puzzle in the last round of darkness.
Is your whelpling dying before Deebs?

Jessail

rédigé le 2018-07-07 03:48:11

Just ran into the same problem here. Bronze Whelpling (HS breed) killed Deebs, then immediately got killed by Tyri. In comes the cat (SS breed), does his spectral strike (which does 500'ish damage), then he gets stunned in the return attack. This is the first time i ever try this strategy (TD script), and it failed spectacularly.

Edit : On the second try, Tyri missed the stun, but the script has no more actions for Wicked.. something must have changed with the pet i guess ?

Hobbyhorse

rédigé le 2018-07-07 08:29:00

It's fixed today. New TD Scipt is added. If you use a level 1 pet, then it probely would die. Safe mode is minimum 116 healts, 173 healt for dragonkin.

Eekwibble rédigé le 2017-03-29 12:10:51

So today is the first day of the Sign of the Critter week, and Squirt is here. After leveling 10 of the 136 pets I want to level today, and using 7 of my pet bandages, I decided to have a tinker with the other strategies.
What I've found is, this strat, alternative 2, is the fastest, closely followed by alt. 1, then alt. 3. So I've put all 3 strats into my pet team addon in that order, labelled them Squirt 1/2/3, and I now have no down-time and no need for bandages.
I put the same lvl1 pet in Squirt 1 and 2, and a different lvl 1 pet in Squirt 3. When I've gone through all 3 teams, Revive is off cd, so, I put another lvl1 pet in Squirt 1 and 2, and keep the same pet as before in Squirt 3. When the 3 teams are finished this time, I rinse/repeat.
I'm currently leveling about 5 pets every 10 minutes.
Just thought I'd share. =)

Eekwibble rédigé le 2017-03-29 14:09:03

Sorry, 3 pets every 10 mins. I'm not particularly rushing in between Revive cd's, though, so it's about 15 pets per hour.

Veryan rédigé le 2017-04-30 23:52:40

You can heal/revive your pets at any time free of cost from the battle pet master which is right next to you.

Sarth rédigé le 2017-05-02 09:49:31

Exactly, Bpet resser/healer is just a few steps away :P

Aviana rédigé le 2017-05-18 09:34:13

Yeah, why would you use bandages?

Eekwibble rédigé le 2018-03-09 13:14:08

In response to the replies above; sorry if I didn't make it clear, I was trying to see how fast I could speed level with as little downtime as possible, meaning no running anywhere except forwards to start the next battle.
End battle > click revive/bandage > start next battle. You see?
Anyway, it's even faster now. I have 3 S/S Bronze Whelplings and 3 Widgets. Leveling speed is now beyond ridiculous.

Ooklä rédigé le 2017-10-12 10:13:46

Wanted to double-check that the td script for Alternative 2 would work with subbing Spectral Tiger cub for Widget. Since it references abilities I thought it would be okay. Here's the script:

ability(122) [enemy(#1).active]
ability(405) [enemy(#2).active]
change(#2)
ability(442) [enemy(#2).active]
if [enemy(#3).active]
change(#3) [enemy.round=1]
change(#2) [self(#3).active]
ability(536)
ability(442)
endif

Wanted to be prepared for Squirt during Pet Battle Event next Monday.

Sarth rédigé le 2017-05-20 11:43:24

This should be Alt 1, you can still use a (x/S) breed but just have to add one more round, like rainard said, but if you already got the S/S one, this is the fastest strat, as you do it in 10 rounds, most are 11+ , and this one you use Tyri`s Darkness against him and Puzzle with the kitty, bringing all RNG to your favor.

Rainart rédigé le 2017-05-19 19:45:55

A (H/S) Bronze whelpling works too for this fight with a little tweak on the strategy:

Turn 1 Tail Sweep
Turn 2 Tail Sweep
Turn 3 Tail Sweep
Turn 4 Tail Sweep
Turns 5-6 Lift-Off, Deebs dies

The rest is the same as above.

Aviana rédigé le 2017-05-19 16:37:52

100% failure with SS Bronze Whelpling. Tyri one-shots on first move 100% of the time.

Moondrala rédigé le 2016-12-20 16:32:49

Not sure what you're doing wrong here? So far I've have 50+ wins with this and not a single failure. The whelp DOES die within one hit from Tyri, but that's intentional. If you do it correctly, Widgit one-shots Puzzle.

Aviana rédigé le 2017-03-20 11:07:36

It has never failed me unless I stop paying attention and misclick. If you follow the strategy exactly, it is perfect.

Ben rédigé le 2017-03-22 03:26:07

He is not wrong, Tyri kills the whelp in one shot, that's what should happen bud, that's 100% what's supposed to happen. He just isn't happy with it I guess.

DD rédigé le 2017-02-04 09:58:07

This should be the number one strat, add (S/S) on to the Bronze Whelpling name and everyone should farm themselves an SS just for this strat. This is Brilliant!!!

Aviana rédigé le 2017-03-20 11:06:12

Agreed. I went to the auction house and bought myself an SS and it was totally worth it. I've leveled hundreds of pets to 25 using this during pet weeks.

The Gnome rédigé le 2016-11-14 06:09:20

Don't do this! It doesn't work. I was left with my levelling pet at Puzzle at full health. :(

Aviana rédigé le 2017-03-20 11:05:15

Really? It works for me every single time, unless I zone out and hit the wrong button on accident. If you follow the plan exactly, it never fails.

I wanted to tell you that if you're concerned about a lack of Widget (or TCG pets, for that matter), an S/S Spectral Spinner can be used instead, but that's a matter of the same event… sort of.
Still, havin' never attended the Hallow's End? It's good to have friends who have their garrisons well supplied. :>

Frogprincess rédigé le 2016-12-20 21:10:38

well, this has been a ridiculously good strat. 100% reliable. and super fast.

Frogprincess rédigé le 2016-12-21 10:55:13

Leveled almost 100 pets from 1-25 yesterday using this strat, the ONLY time this strat messes up is if you get 3 crits in a row on deebs. and you can still recover from that if you are paying attention (but its faster to just cancel fight and repeat).

Brissingar rédigé le 2016-12-21 08:02:04

Works like a charm, and allows you to level any pet you want. Just make sure Bronze Whelpling is S/S and as long as you follow the turn order then it should work 100% of the time.

Michelle rédigé le 2016-12-20 21:36:04

This is *definitely* my favorite strategy. I love how it uses Tyri's Darkness spell against him. I'm really surprised some people are reporting failures. I've done this so many times without failing except when I accidentally used a wrong ability or forgot to swap in my level pet (oops). I think some people might have missed the note about the whelping needing to be an S/S breed.

gravyspasm rédigé le 2016-12-20 11:44:05

so worth it to get this s/s bronze whelpling. love this strat so much more than the abom one.

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-12-18 06:37:51

Is there a reason why Bronze Whelpling needs to be S/S? Wanted to know if P/P is good enough to substitute it.

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-12-20 11:38:19

It's to get the first hit on things, like Tyri. Otherwise timing is off and you miss the Spectral Strike/Darkness combo needed to oneshot Puzzle.

Ziv rédigé le 2016-11-21 09:14:30

Just picked up this strat, been using the weebom/broom strat for a long time. Love this one so much more!

John rédigé le 2016-10-21 22:37:46

I *love* this strategy. Using Tyri's Call Darkness against him with Spectral Strike is brilliant!

Sela rédigé le 2016-09-29 21:57:40

This is my favorite strategy for Squirt. The only downside to it is that you have to pay attention to the fight (unlike with Broom and Weebom) - you don't want to use tail sweep on Tyri just because you zoned out during the battle. Widget can also be switched out for the spectral tiger cub, which I love because I get to spend some time with a pet I don't use nearly often enough.
