HB Coastal Scuttler is not faster than Pilfer, but it works as long as the Coastal Scuttler and Hermit Crab are Bubbled for the Antaen Cannon.

Didn't level Ghost Shark so came up with another solution for SL prepatch:

Nameless Octopode (S/B) - 2-2-2
And the rest from the above pets.

Start with dive, then 1 Shadowshock, then Blinding poison, Shadowshock, Dive, Shadowshock, Poison... die. :P
Follow the rest of the strategy for a win.

Since you asked, I used a B/B Coastal Scuttler.. When my Hermit Crab came in (last pet) I had to wait with using Bubble (his Antean Cannon still had 2 rounds of cooldown), so I proceeded with these steps: Fish Slap - Bubble - Fish Slap - Dive and won the fight. (edited)

My only Coastal Scuttler was H/H - meaning slow - so I brought Bubble forward by a turn. Then the rest was common sense.

Luck was with me the first time I tried, and I didn't even need the third pet (with a H/H Scuttler). The second time played out exactly as written (ofc I got curious and had to try again)

I managed to figure this one out with Spawn of G'nathus in the first slot since I didn't have a Ghost Shark, but it took a few tries to figure it out. Thank you for the non-Gulp option.

Really seems like both Elvers need to be S/B...first try with 2 S/B, 3 fails with 2 S/S...I recognize that 3 attempts is not exactly extensive research, and I admit I may have missed one Bite out of the final 3 Bites of the first Elver...regardless, it's done, though it was an expensive (2 S/B Elvers + 2 purple stones) fight

It looks like your Elver needs to be faster than Pilfer's 263. A 260 speed Elver isn't fast enough.
