Two Alpha Strikes reduced Shelby to 634 which was 4 points too many to land a kill with Predatory Strike; tried three times. Had to Alpha Strike a third time before using Predatory Strike. Second try, Gorehoof got crits, so I restarted. Worked the third time. Thank you!

But do yourself a favour - pick up a H/P Mudshell Conch, or a H/P Shimmershell Snail. If you're only getting one, go for the Mudshell first, since you will capture it at a higher level, so it will need less levelling.

For most purposes, these have the best stat distrbution of all the Snails.

Muck slug can be swapped with any snail. I used acidic goo+headbutt (it didn't stun doe so it might have to do with it) and after you just use ooze touche + acidic goo and dive as in strategy. I don't know what will happen is headbutt stuns hoof. Might be better, might be worse.
