Once I imported the script, it worked perfectly. I'm still not sure why I couldn't follow the instructions manually...

Reynor#1499

wrote on 2021-01-09 18:57:20

Thanks for the script. Please be aware that it doesn't properly Pass in round 3. I had to do the Pass manually. Everything else worked beautifully. Thanks.

Sam wrote on 2021-02-13 15:44:13

This still failed for me. I had to add the love potion that broke auto pressing but won.

skarpethinn

wrote on 2021-07-05 14:10:33

How do you pass manually, & still run the script, Reynor#1499? As soon as you hit a button, or make a manual move, it stops/resets the script.

Until they fix the 9.1 bug with passing a round, any script with a pass in it won't work...

Well, I've tried this strat quite a bit, and have failed.

PP, SS, PB breeds.

My Wyrmy always gets 1-2 shot at the end, even when using the TDscript wist posted, and even getting the first pet down as in previous comments by round 4.

I officially dislike this particular fight.

Fierabras#1629

wrote on 2022-08-22 01:05:13

Well, it worked tonight. I'm not sure why, except it seemed my first pet died earlier than normal, so the backline swap for the nasty 3rd pet put him back in the backline before he could really kill off my team.

Whatever - Happy to be done with this! Tough fight.

Biletoad 212, Benax 211, Mechantula 222 works every time.

Biletoad-- Swarm of Flies-Healing Wave-Tongue Lash x3-Healing Wave - 2nd Pet comes in Swarm of Flies-Tongue Lash x2 Biletoad dies.

Bring in Benax-- Bubble ---IF the other pet has over 800 Health Tongue Lash, then Pass, SOMETIMES another Tongue Lash if it had too much health --- IF it has 700 or less Health, then just Pass, SOMETIMES another Tongue Lash here instead of the last one it is easy to see it coming as to when to do it as you WANT Mudslide to hit when the 3rd pet comes in otherwise it hits nothing as the 2nd pet explodes first-- Tongue Lash 1 or 2 times Benax will die.

Mechantula-- Web-Spider Swarm if you think the other pet is going to get another shot in which it does once in a while just use Extra Plating. (edited)

You have to have humanoids only. Your strategy is good for just the world quest, but not for the achievement.

73attempts/64wins, winning rate 87%, use Love Potion at turn 9 instead of Rapid Fire. I was stubborn and dislike use Like Potion in the past.

I won't talk about the specifics of why this strat fails, as it has been covered before. I found a strat that worked the first time for me. Last pet had 150 health left when the battle was over. https://www.wowhead.com/npc=173263/rotgut#comments:id=3261435

Kurasu#2861

Despite the OP's assurance, there is definitely RNG on this battle. If using the tactics recommended, the enemy still manages to kill Wyrmy Tunkins at the end. And the patch bug is no longer active, so that's not the reason behind it.

All in all, this needs more detail to b e able to address just where the main issue is; all I can say with the detail here is that, played as it is, it does not work 3 for 3 times now.

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-07-24 14:14:52

It's true that more detail, in the form of knowing where exactly each enemy pet dies, is necessary for a user to be able to understand where their experience deviates from the strat's expectations. By the same token, it would help people wanting to look into it if you posted your own observations, and ideally your log.

So I just looked up my old log from Apr 24 where I tried it for myself. On that occasion, it worked.

In that battle, the first opponent pet went to zero in round 4, after being Lovestruck, and revived in Updaad round to finally die at the end of Round 5. The second opponent pet was brought to zero by Nether Gate in Round 13, and died on the backline next round.

So where could this go wrong? Without doing a full workup, it seems plausible that the Runt might die early. In my case, it took 3 * 227 + 75 = 756 from Bone Barrage in R1. 429 from Bone Prison + 75 + 42 = 546 from the storm in R2, and gets totally creamed by Bone Bite in R3. 756 + 546 = 1302, and the Runt's health is only 1278. It survived that long only because of its Humanoid racial heal of 51 at the end of R1.

So, if all three Bones hit, almost any Crit in the first two rounds will knock out the Runt before it can eat the Bone Bite in R3, and after that you, if following this strat, you would be effectively a round behind.

Is this what happened to you?

Whatever happened the last 3 for 3 times seems to be working now. I wish I could tell you what happened specifically on the 20th in step by step order, but... well... that was the 20th, and today's the 24th, and I can only guess at the specifics of what kept happening. Other than 'I kept losing that day'!

RNG giveth, and RNG taketh away!

That's why it's always useful to get detailed information when it's available. I suspect if I went back and tried enough times, I would find a failure condition, but to be fair, I never expect 100%, or even 95% reliability from Family strats, and especially with a type disadvantage.

I think this strat is a very good one for the difficulty of the battle.

Xade-Kazzak wrote on 2021-04-23 20:26:06

Not even remotely working...

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-04-23 20:37:18

There are several people who investigate reports of problems with strategies on Xu-Fu's. There are designated Strategy Curators, and other regulars who read comments and are interested in the latest.

In my experience, when people leave a short "It didn't work" note, they usually made a mistake. Maybe they used a pet with the wrong Speed, maybe they didn't do a Pass where it was indicated, sometimes they were even using the team and strat from a completely different battle. :)

Sometimes there genuinely is a problem with the strat. This is where the Curators and others come in, checking the strat for weaknesses, and fixing it or removing it if it can't be fixed.

Since most failure reports with no details are wrong, it's not good to waste people's time investigating them. Instead, help them by providing the information they need.

If the strat failed for you, and you want your comment to be taken seriously:

1. Specify EXACTLY which species and breeds you used.

2. Specify whether you read the strategy from the site and executed it manually, or downloaded and used the tdScript.

3. Specify EXACTLY where the first unexpected thing happened, the first thing that deviated from what the strat predicts. What died too early? What didn't die when it was supposed to? What attack missed?

4. If possible, provide a log. You can see your log in the Pet Battle tab of your chat box. You can pull that out, make it bigger, screenshot it. Better still, you can use the addon Battle Pet Log Keeper from Curseforge, and do /pblk and Save Battle when the battle you want to log is complete.

Almost any strat can fail to a really unlucky string of crits, and some difficult challenge strats like the Family ones may fail more than anyone likes, but the people behind this site do their best to promote well-working strats. Do your part. Provide useful information.

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-04-23 21:32:00

P.S. I just tried it, and it worked first time for me. I can see how getting unlucky with crits from the Bone Barrage and/or Bone Prison in the first two rounds could be a problem, if you never get yoiur Call Lightning off, but for a Family strat already marked RNG it seems relatively robust after that.

skarpethinn

wrote on 2021-07-05 12:17:09

Considering the strat literally says "Any" breeds for all 3 pets, Gráinne, telling someone to "Specify EXACTLY which species and breeds you used" seems a little farcical. i have tried this strat (so far) 17 times tonight, & i can concur that it is not close to working.

i have the strat memorised & am doing the fight manually (not using tdScript or anything like that; the fight doesn't "deviate" at any point - each round goes as the strat outlines, each pet dies where the strat says it would/should, i had several fights with no crits (didn't actually seem to matter if i got crits or not - the outcomes was the same) but Wyrny Tunkins has nowhere enough HP left when Leftovers #2 comes back out around Round 14 - so he doesn't survide the Corpse Explosion.

Enough details for you? Perhaps you can scroll thru next time instead of taking so much time to run another player down, hmmm?

The worst blight on this excellent site is random users leaving unspecific and usually misleading comments. What is anyone supposed to do with "It didn't work?" what is the point of trying to follow up a comment like that? What is the point of posting it? And so I have a generic answer for such comments I paste in. Sometimes it actually does work in getting people to come back with an observation that can be looked at.

As for "running another player down", do think about the effect on the strat-makers of hearing unfounded attacks that they can't even defend against because there is no clue to the alleged fault. There are many strat-makers, and having chatted with them I know it sometimes does discourage them. Eventually, they may develop enough confidence to ignore these anonymous and unspecific criticisms, or they may give up.

Or they may just stop posting less than 100% strats for the harder battles, like Family.

There are many excellent and prolific strat-setters, like DragonsAfterDark and Berendain and Mutanis who produce a wide range of high-quality, fast, well-documented and tested strats for everyday use. nogulpfrog is a specialist in creating strats for the the hardest battles, the ones where few people even try. The name comes from the infamous Gloamwing Aquatic battle, when the only way generally known was with a Gulp Froglet, which was not common. You will notice that there are only 5 strats for this battle, and nogulpfrog's has four times as many likes as all the others put together. (I do think the "NO RNG" claim may be excessive though - RNG invades EVERY strat!)

The only reliable way to analyse a report is by comparing logs, but often the people having problems with a strat will not be equipped to post a log, and unwilling even to do it by screenshots of their Pet Battle Log, so without that, every piece of detail helps. With no details, there is no traceability.

My generic message includes an instruction to specify exactrly the species and breeds. You are right that it is redundant in this case, since each pet used has no substitute and only one breed. I'm not sorry for it, though; I'm not going to try to customise it for every drive-by diss.

So, based on your somewhat more detailed comment, I just went there to check it out, again.

And then I realised this strat is badly affected by the current stun/pass bug that you will find detailed on the main page of the site, so there is no point at all in trying to analyse it until Blizzard fix the bug.

When the bug is fixed, do please try the strat again. If the failure persists, do please post again, with as much information as possible.

Note for nogulpfrog: when clearing these kinds of queries up, it would be helpful if you added as comment lines in the strat the points where the opponent pets die, and in this case the point where they swap after the stun. I was lucky in having previously logged the battle, so the effect of the bug jumped out at me instantly. (edited)

This bug is annoyed but easy to solve, use single Peddlefeet with stun and rapid fire, pass when your stun on CD, enemy can't attack you.

I will add some details after this bug fix, I can't test it now.

i already completed this stage of the achievement on one of the other strats here - one of the lower-rated ones Gráinne so thoughtfully pointed out; only took 3 rounds, as opposed to the 27 i ended up trying here before giving up.

Now, if there was a reliable one for "Unholy Undead"...

skarpethinn

wrote on 2021-07-05 11:51:50

Why would you use a "Love Potion" after "Call Lightning"? "Call Lightning" is the Runt's last move, after which he dies, & Peddlefoot comes in - but takes no damage - & "Love Potion" always goes first. So why would you take a heal in Peddlefoot's first round if you've taken no damage?

Do you mean using "Love Potion" after "Lovestruck," - the next round? (edited)

It's super-important on this one to follow the directions. Yes, it would be nice if the OP mentioned when things are supposed to die on the opponent's side. And if you get unlucky and kill the first enemy pet too quickly, it messes up everything and you should just reset.

Bad strategy. I'm guessing the author got lucky one time with it and posted, because as you can see by the other comments multiple people have the same problem at the same point in the fight. This is a massive RNG fight where Peddlefeet has to take several hits and none of them are crits. It'll work eventually, just make sure to bring a good supply of pet bandages.

Are you new to pet battle? I play it everyday for 4years ,I'm not a rookie! This strategy is perfect except enemy crits. So many people claim they fail all the time because they don't know pet battle at all! Some of them use a green pet or lv25- pet and say my strategy doesn't work. THIS IS LIBEL.
