I used a H/S Tiny Twister.

The opponent's last pet is usually at least 1/3 dead by the time the Core Hound Pup comes in. It would probably be pretty easy to switch it out for a different elemental if you don't have a Core Hound Pup. (I was also successful with a Molten Corgi 1/*/*).
