Just for the sake of trying I used my H/B Nether Faerie Dragon with Life Exchange and it somehow worked first try

Nether Faerie Dragon needs to be SS to be able to use Evanescence to counter Timbo's Howl. HP and PP breeds aren't fast enough.

If you do that, though, this should work without too many problems.

The strat above worked perfect for me. However I agree that it has to be SS pet in first slot which the Sprite Darter Hatchling is. I know the guide auto adds substitute pets if they have the same abilities, class, etc, so perhaps DragonAfterDark needs to specific SS breed in the strat so that the alternative pet does not show if it is not SS.

I don't control the substitutes offered by the site, and when a pet only has 1 breed, there is no option to select only that breed. I can put something in the info, but that's about the most I can do.

Indeed; IMO SS NFD should probably be selected by default when setting up the strat these days as it's a lot more common than SDH is.

(My original comment was also added for anyone who's trying to do the strat with an NFD instead of SDH.)

This worked for me on the first try with S/S Sprite and Emmigosa in the third slot in place of Lil' Tarecgosa for Surge of Power.

This quest hasn't come up for me since the patch, and I haven't been able to get on the PTR which I imagine is normal after a patch. I'm wondering if they changed something in the fight like they did for a few others. I'll be going through all the fights people are having issues with and tweaking them once I have the quest up. Thank you for your feedback!

Tried this strat and it didn't work at the end due to corpse explosion killing your last pet and his pet entering undead phase. Solution for me was to use Surge or Power as soon as Lil'tarecgosa came into the battle if you had Howl up on last pet. Hope this helps :)
