Ended up using Hydrath exactly as the strat suggests, then subbed in Pandaren Water Spirit like @Tigraz used with their Geyser/Dive/Water Jet strat. Second Water Jet finished it before my third pet ever was needed.

Jademist dancer died before it could finish marshmallow, i did have an echo of the heights slotted as backup and its call lightning acted as amply effective cleanup

I didn't have either pet at lvl 25, so I changed it up and had no issues:
Bound Steam (2/2/2)
Pandaren Water Spirit (1/2/2)
Any Elemental

For the first pets, Dive at first, Pump x2, Healing Wave on CD.
Pandaren Water spirit came in, Geyser, Dive and Water Jet in that order on CD.
3rd pet just had to come in for a single mop-up attack.
