High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Thanks for the strat, worked first try. A script:

use(#3) [enemy(Beaky:1788).active & enemy.round=2]

My Anubisath died when Beaky had 555 hp left, which made the script hang.
Adding a simple "change(next)" in your script will make sure that it doesn't hang in this situation and instead brings in pet #2 and uses ability 1 and 2 depending on what rounds Beaky is on.
In most cases a user may want to take over and finish the fight manually though, as the randomized nature of pet #2 and #3 makes it impossible to know what ability 1 and 2 does.

I am surprised that this has not been mentioned, this trainer is the only one in legion that does not allow you to do multiple times in order to beat him with every family. Every other trainer that I have run into allowed me to just keep fighting with each family, this one only let me do 1 battle each time it comes around.

dyz wrote on 2018-11-23 15:43:54

OH TG you cleared that up for me I thought they had caught on to me basically clearing thru them in one sitting when they spawn... lol ya paranoia will destroy ya

You can create class trials and just knock them out like that.

silverdreams

wrote on 2020-08-13 01:00:12

You can save time by just making one level 110 class trial character and using it to battle him repeatedly!

When you log in on the trial character, just use the Hearthstone immediately to skip the tutorial scenario and go to Stormwind/Orgrimmar. Then, go to the portal room and use the Azsuna portal. From there, go over to Illidari Stand and use the flight point to fly to Lorlathil, Val'sharah (trial characters come with that flight point). Finally, just mount up and ride over to Durian.

Credit to Venara on Wowhead and GamesDean here for this great trick!

ETA: Alternatively, just skip this jerk, because you only need to defeat 12 master tamers for the individual achievements, not all 15 listed. (edited)

wrote on 2021-08-16 23:37:59

I created a class trial character and deleted/recreated it after each battle. Then I noticed this note on the fourth one... that's weird that you can battle Durian multiple times on a class trial. Anyway.... I have been battling him on my normal character the one time whenever he shows up. Now he is the last obstacle to finish Family Familiar so I am doing the class trial method for 5 of the pet types.

Cassandrael

wrote on 2022-09-28 20:08:07

They seem to have fixed this loophole. I just made a trial character but he cannot battle Durian.

Gráinne

wrote on 2022-09-29 04:34:49

Thank you, Cassandrael.

I just checked with a Class Trial. Durian will batttle my normal characters, but he offers only the "Tell me more about yourself" to my Class Trial character.

... and he still won't battle my regular characters more than once each. You would think that if they addressed the Class Trial workaround, they would have also addressed the non-repeatable bug that made it necessary, Hrmph.

Fenris447

wrote on 2023-02-03 19:45:31

They must have fixed this finally in 10.0.5. You can now battle him repeatedly.

Gráinne

wrote on 2023-02-04 01:50:16

Yes, they did (finally!) fix it with 10.0.5.

Enzzo#1146

wrote on 2021-02-28 10:52:26

Great strat. Anubisath or Void-Scarred Anubisath solos this one. Void-Scarred is slightly preferred because Spiritfire Bolt does more damage vs Beaky.

Anubisath Idol wrote on 2017-03-03 09:52:35

So, I cast sandstorm... Then I missed at least 2 out of 5 crushes while my opponent kept on hitting and even critting. After 5 attempts, I finally managed to only miss once and even land a crit!

My owner screamed at me though, what am I doing wrong ?

Anonymous wrote on 2017-08-25 00:26:00

worked perfectly, used Terky and a level pet that went from 12-22.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-08-13 09:41:04

I tried about 3 times with no luck. I chose Curious Oracle Hatchling 2 1 2 and Ore Eater 1 2 1 because they both have elemental abilities. My 4th try my idol took all 3 down. Maybe this will help.

Jaquari wrote on 2016-12-16 20:16:36

Thanks this worked for me I used anub, a flayer youngling leveling pet and harbinger of flame

Zalid wrote on 2016-11-12 16:59:44

I've tried this twice and it does not work. Turn 6 deflection on Roots is too early. His Stun Seed and Autumn Breeze both come off cooldown on turn 7. If you do not deflect the Stun Seed on turn 7, you can get rooted/stunned on turn 2 of Beaky and be unable to deflect the Lift-Off.

Zalid wrote on 2016-11-12 17:10:21

Tried it a 3rd time using Deflection on turn 8, (first two attempts he did Autumn Breeze on turn 7), to try and stop the Stun Seed but he did it on turn 7 this time, so deflected his Autumn Breeze. This allowed me to win this time.
Though I could have one on previous attempts if I had read your last sentence and continued with the other humanoid so this strategy does work ;-)

Isiliel wrote on 2016-10-23 05:34:52
