Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Still works great in SL. As with other "family familiar" fights against Odrogg, you can use leveling pet (of the same family, of course) as your 3rd and swap it in/out right after your fist pet dies. A mid to high level pet would be safer, but I was jsut fine with a low level pet.

Northern Hawk Owl can replace the Raven pet in slot 1.

It almost beat the entire fight by itself, leaving the final enemy pet on 700hp before dying. (edited)

Have 3 Northern Hawk Owl so easier fight ever :D

TerkyAndSquirky

rédigé le 2020-06-29 17:43:46

He uses stone form when he gets below a certain amount of health. The Gilnean Raven's Call Darkness doesn't deal enough damage to trigger it right away (assuming it's B/B). I replaced the raven with a Fledgling Warden Owl and it worked great.

You can actually just solo this with Teroclaw. I just used claw and ravage and dived on CD

I lead with Ikky (Black Claw and Flock) then switched to Teroclaw when Ikky died - much better outcome than strategy posted above

BevansDesign#1728

rédigé le 2018-10-03 13:54:15

This strategy doesn't work anymore. On Rocklick, there's no reason to pass 3 times, because he doesn't do his 3-round heal immediately. Just hit Call Darkness, Nocturnal Strike, and Peck (in order of importance).

I was wondering why all these strats call for passing! glad they removed that ability. sounds hecked!

rédigé le 2019-07-04 23:45:02

TD Script to work with Bevans strategy.

TD Script:

ability(Call Darkness:256)
ability(Nocturnal Strike:517) [weather(Darkness:257).duration >=1]
ability(Ravage:802) [enemy.hp <=400]
ability(Dodge:312) [enemy.aura(Underwater:830).exists]
ability(#1)

Misty rédigé le 2018-07-24 22:50:53

Prob a better strat but I just winged it after the prepatch which changed Teroclaw's hatchling moveset.

I used:
Ikky: x/1/1
Hog-Nosed Bat: 1/1/x
Shimmering Aquafly 1/2/1

If memory serves correctly:
Blackclaw > Flock (Rocklick dies and Slow Moe comes in)
Blackclaw > Flock (Ikky dies bring in Hog-Nosed Bat)
Bite > Bite (Bat should kill Snot if not use Bite until dead)
When Snot comes in, use Bite until your bat is dead.
Barbed Stinger on Snot. (Snot should die) If not use Puncture Wound. (If Snot uses dive, lift-off takes priority over all other moves but lift off shouldnt be necessary).

Rifkin rédigé le 2017-09-14 20:57:53

What is the reason for passing x3? I tried and it seemed like a waste, unless it's supposed to avoid something that i was maybe lucky enough that he didn't cast? Anyway on my second attempt I Called Darkness, Nocturnal Strike, Peck til NS was off CD and the rest of the fight continue as suggested.

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-10-24 08:21:30

You pass 3 times, because the total dmg of 3 pecks cannot overcome the 3-turn increasing heal it undergoes. Passing just makes each turn end faster. The first attack is to make the pet do (and put on cooldown) the heal it does.

Taikira rédigé le 2017-06-27 22:40:59

Used a 20+ Flying pet that wasn't 25 as 3rd Flyer. Swapped it in, cast any 1 round ability, then swapped out for turns 2-4. Worked perfectly

Abbotta rédigé le 2017-07-12 20:07:40

Did the same thing with a level 15 moth. Great for leveling!

with this strat... i used the opportunity of the 3 passes to bring in a level pet (in this case it was a flyer) first pass was bring it in 2nd pass was switch back to the raven the third pass i passed and continued with the strat. ... worked like a charm!

Aelfraed rédigé le 2017-05-10 21:44:24

I used a direbeak Ikky and terrorclaw, usual moves, terrorclaw only needed one shot to finish it.

Sonador rédigé le 2017-01-18 10:40:57

It worked for me and with the 3 passes I was able to put a leveling pet in and out, getting a falcosaur from 11 to 16. Not bad!

Lilyoptra rédigé le 2017-02-24 19:56:56

Thank you for the leveling pet sugggestion. I try to take advantage of leveling opportunities whenever possible and this worked perfectly.

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-12-07 20:28:04

S/S Gilnean Raven doesn't work with this strat, but using the same moves with a B/B Crow worked exactly as described.

Mysgydid rédigé le 2016-12-24 19:32:17

Thanks! Gilnean Raven was dying WAY too soon. Crow did the job perfectly.

Constantine rédigé le 2017-01-05 04:29:13

Those are really rare and can only be bought from people who got them from their trainer as worgen I believe. B/B definitely works but S/S and perhaps the 3rd breed which is P/P or something similar are very rare.

Peter rédigé le 2017-02-24 15:50:59

I used a northen hawk owl for the first pet, with savage talon as the first talent, worked great following the strat as detailed, I tried twice and both times was able to do a few atacks after the nocturnal strike, and almost killed the second enemy pet, also put a leveling pet in in place of the 3 passes near the start, gave good xp with no dificulty.

leumas rédigé le 2017-01-18 23:30:50

use an albatross chick and a golden eagle chick with thrash and hawk eye. first chick will get two down and the last one with the other chick. you can also have any wasp as a 2nd. just keep hawk eye up.

Fawnix rédigé le 2016-12-07 19:10:20

Dread Hatchling has a high enough attack stat at 337 and exact moves needed from raven to trigger the heal after a call darkness followed by a peck then pass 3 times, rest is as follows from strat.

Kapira rédigé le 2017-01-18 16:49:59

This worked much better for me, as well (the Hatchling actually was able to solo the second pet as well, getting a Nocturnal Strike and a Peck in on the third one.) I didn't realize the Call Darkness was supposed to trigger the healing and my S/S raven was too weak for that.

Britehawk rédigé le 2017-01-04 10:19:36

Did not work as written. Gilnean Raven died before Rocklick. Replacing the 3 pass turns with peck did work.

gent rédigé le 2017-01-04 20:06:03

Weird it worked for me passing 3 turns, but I also had to do call darkness at the end to kill Rocklick instead of peck.

Level 1 pet P/P Fledgling Oliveback 2/2/2 Teroclaw Hatchling 1/2/1

Easy leveling Tactic

Fledgling Oliveback can kill 1st Two enemy pets using Thrash + Preen
(not always, but it doesnt matter, because he kills 1st one easily, and other two= no problem)

When he dies, bring Teroclaw Hatchling

Bring LEVELING PET after 3rd enemy joins the fight and uses his 1st ability (debuff one)
then bring back Teroclaw Hatchling and finish.

I didnt even pass 3 rounds for the healing+reflect

Just went for the face :D used 2x Thrash on start, then Preen
Then Preen on Cooldown > Thrash

Daedrynn rédigé le 2016-10-12 19:26:25

You can easily level a pet in this fight (4950 xp with safari hat!) by swapping him in when Snot has one round left before his second dive. Use Teroclaw to cast Nature's Ward, then swap to leveling pet, then swap back to Teroclaw, cast Dodge to avoid the Dive strike, then finish him off with a few Claws.

Sarth rédigé le 2016-10-28 18:53:03

Might be better to swap leveling pet on the first pet, when he's healing up, plenty of rounds to do it, and you just have to get a hard hit on him to trigger his healing.

Azsunyx rédigé le 2016-12-07 12:12:26

I swapped level pet during the first 3 "pass" moves in the above strategy, worked like a charm, only got 3988xp with the safari hat though. Still, got a level 1 to level 11, not bad at all.

Azarak rédigé le 2016-10-26 13:44:42

This strategy did not work with a raven at all. The Gilnean Raven didn't do enough damage for the snail to start healing, so the pass phases didn't work and he just wrecked my face while I did nothing. HOWEVER, using a Crow worked very well for me. Maybe it's a breed thing, I don't know. But my crow had enough power to force the snail to heal in the pass phase and it worked well.

If that is the case, your Call Darkness didn't trigger Rocklick to start his heal. I'm unsure how this can happen but perhaps it's breed related. Can you tell me perhaps which Gilnean Raven you have?

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-10-26 18:22:38

I had the same problem with a B/B raven, Call Darkness did not trigger the heal, even on a crit. I tried doing an extra Peck right after to trigger the heal but then Rocklick managed to kill the raven before I could peck it to death.

Solitha rédigé le 2016-10-27 01:51:08

I tested multiple times on my P/B raven (463 damage on Call Darkness), then my Dread Hatchling (535), and a Long-Eared Owl (444, same as the B/B raven) and always triggered Stone Form.

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-10-29 10:44:15

I also had the same issue with a S/S breed Raven.

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-10-26 20:38:19

As a rule, I always try Ikky first. Easy to get and Black Claw + Flock is devastating. Ikky went through Rocklick like butter with it, and landed a Black Claw + Flock on Slow Moe. Bring in any flyer with Alpha Strike or Quills to finish off Slow Moe and do what you can vs. Snot. Have Teroclaw in reserve in case you need it. Black Claw followed by Flock even gets through most shells, like Slow Moe used, so don't be afraid when you see shells to give it a try.

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-10-27 02:43:02

easily soloed with just teroclaw hatchling (1,2,2). finished in round 27 with about 75% hp still. had bone wasp and gilnean raven as backup

Anonymous rédigé le 2016-10-26 15:24:09

Just for fun I kicked off with the Amberbarb Wasp (1,1,1) first, then the Raven and Teroclaw.

This strat worked exactly as written for me today, despite a couple of Darkness misses.
