Working perfectly, and I got 4000+ exp in a leveling pet.

UPDATE: Tried to kill him again and I'm not able anymore. It's very RNG dependant. (editado)

I'm not sure how "reliable" this strat is. I ended up trying it twice, and I couldn't get it to work for me. On the first time, Surge of Power did not kill Whispertail, on the second, dusty smoked me early.

Dusty can be a pain when you get put to sleep a couple of times towards the end of Dusty's life.
I bet if you tried it another 8 times it would work every one of them, though. Two attempts isn't a great sample size.

8 out of 10? an 80% success rate is OK for a challenge, like a Family achievement, but not what I'd call reliable enough to use for regular tamer levelling. I haven't tried this strat, but I know the battle, and that RNG sleep can be disruptive.

Personally, I wouldn't call anything under a 95% strat Reliable, maybe 99%. Tamer levelling strats are expected to fail so rarely that it's a statistical blip.

OK, so I tried this 10 times, abandoning when I would have done Explode to be able to repeat. I won 9 of 10, or 90% of my sample. I observed the following deviations:

1. Chrominius did not survive to face Whispertail
2. Needed Missile after Thunderbolt on PAS
3. Whispertail enters with >740, so doesn't die to SoP (3 times)

I could see my way round those deviations clearly enough, though perhaps a beginner wouldn't, and I would say this strat is reliable enough to post here, but is that reliable enough for an extra "Reliable" tag within the context of what people expect from this site, when the user has to compensate for RNG? A script would also need to compensate for these cases. That may be a conversation that needs to work itself out.

Yeah. In my settings here, I had "Reliable" tags at the top of my "Favoured" column, to see them first. I now consider the "Reliable" tag unreliable, since it is set by people on their own strategies, who may be overoptimistic about their success rates. This will just have to work itself out over time. Maybe the "Reliable" tag can become based on the number of success reports in the attempt records.

I completely understand how tempting it is to feel that your strat is great when you've just worked it out. Oh yeah, I understand that very well. :)

And the issue affects more than just you; I raised it in the Discord well before I saw this. I think long-term, it might be better to tag strats as "Reliable" based on high number of votes based on stars received, or by the number of people making reports with success on their first tries. Thing is, if you don't actually math it out, it takes a LOT of attempts to determine the reliability of a strat - I'd say about 100.

And then we have the question: how reliable do people expect a strat to be, to be tagged "Reliable" here? I expect all strats here to be above 90%, except challenge strats with built-in RNG. So is "Reliable" 99%? 99.9%?

The conversation needs to work itself out. I trust Aranesh and the community to find a good answer. Thanks for participating contructively. :)

P.S. For what it's worth, I think adding an "RNG" tag was overkill. Every strat has some RNG. If the tamer pet crits every round, which is rare but possible, every strat is in trouble.

If my 90% quick survey is right, then your strat fits right in with the rest - neither "Reliable" nor "RNG". I'd save "RNG" for those Family strats where it is really needed.

You have the added issue, however, of strategies being adjustable but not the statistical data gathered from submissions.

So someone posts a strat that is almost there but not quite 100% reliable and 11 people find the flaw before the kink is ironed out.

Well, there's no way to balance it between 5-star votes, first time success subs and 'Reliable' tags that I can see, but, I'll leave it in your capable hands.
