I was a little confused by the wording of the strat. What worked for me was after Curse of Doom, keep using Shadow Shock until my undead round, and then use Unholy Ascension in that round. Valkyr will soak the Antean Cannon hit this way. Then for the squirrel, keep up Creeping Fungus, use Stampede, and hold Corpse Explosion until either your undead round or just until Pilfer is low enough to be killed by Corpse Explosion. Hope that works and helps anyone else who was a little confused while following this strat!

Thank you for those clarifications. I wouldn't have figured all that out either, so I appreciate it :).

Couldn't get this one to work for whatever reason. Used infected squirrel (1,2,2) macabre marionette (2,1,1) and mr. Bigglesworth (1,2,1)
1 creeping fungus
2 corpse explosion
3 Mr. Bigglesworth is in frost nova

Flawless!

Kiolna rédigé le 2017-09-02 06:25:43

You can't use stampede after corpse explosion. Corpse explosion instantly kills the user... makes this strategy not work

Aranesh

rédigé le 2017-09-02 07:38:33

Stampede is used in the Undead round :-)

T'Saavik rédigé le 2017-09-03 20:54:59

Seems to trigger a failsafe, you don't get an undead round :(

Daedrynn rédigé le 2017-09-04 01:40:59

It worked for me exactly as written. I have seen Corpse Explosion inst-kill this pet before with no undead round, so I thought it wouldn't work, but it did.

Aranesh

rédigé le 2017-09-04 12:54:36

The reason it works here is because in that very turn, Pilfer kills your pet with Antaen Cannon. The undead resurrection happens and makes your pet immortal for the round, then Corpse Explosion is used, and can't kill your Squirrel

Hermy rédigé le 2017-09-28 09:22:52

I've had the same issue as Kiolna. Twice now, Corpse Explosion has insta-killed my Squirrel. No undead round. Antaen Cannon is not up until the next round.

Kathleene

rédigé le 2017-11-06 23:25:31

I wondered about that, too, Kiolna, when I saw the instructions. However, the strategy worked for me just like Aranesh said it would. It seems strange, but I followed it exactly (after failing miserably with several other teams of my own making), and it worked perfectly. Thanks (again), Lazey & Xu-Fu.

Didn't work for me either, probably a RNG thing as Antean Cannon was not up when expected. Changed what I used for second run using Shadow Shock with the Valkyr until the undead round, which timed the same as Antean Cannon was up, then Unholy Ascension. Squirrel used Creeping Fungus, Stampede, Creeping Fungus then Corpse Explosion.

Here's some simple one with two pets:
Unborn Val'kyr * 2 2
Returned Hatchking 2 1 *
Any

Start with Unborn Valkyr
Curse of Doom
Unholy Ascension
(valkyr dies, call in Returned Hatchling)
Bone Barrage
Skull Toss
Bone Barrage
Skull Toss
End

I needed an extra skull toss at the end, but still worked (edited)

Maybe I did something wrong, but it did not quite go as planned -- Pilfer used his one-hit ability on the squirrel (a turn early?) and so stampede never went off? The ghastly kid still managed to squeak by though, so it did work in the end!

Yes - the Undead Squirrel doesn't get an undead round after using corpse explosion!

Used Mr Bigglesworth, 1-1-1. Ice Barrier, Ice Tomb, Claw x2, then on to the UV. At the end just Claw.

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-08-30 08:35:50

Swapping in Mr B worked perfectly, thank you.

Anonymous rédigé le 2017-09-01 20:40:45

Not sure if I'm doing it wrong, but this doesn't work for me. The ice tomb is blocked by the ice barrier. I've tried waiting, doing it anyway and having it blocked, switching immediately to UV. No luck

T'Saavik rédigé le 2017-09-03 20:43:54

Ice barrier, he hits it once, you hit it once with claw, then Ice tomb

Hermy rédigé le 2017-09-28 09:31:17

Swapping in Mr. Bigglesworth worked for me too! Ice Barrier, Claw, Ice Tomb, then swap to UV.

I dropped the Corpse Explosion on my Infected Squirrel, as he got killed by the big blast, and just did Stampede for the double damage debuff. Original strat failed for me twice as Corpse Explosion didn't trigger the undead round, so this was perfect!

A variation on this for those without an H/S Restless Shadeling.
Use Ghastly Kid instead, and swap the Val'kyr's Haunt for Unholy Ascension.

Ghastly Kid 2-2-2
Unborn Val'kyr 2-2-2
Infected Squirrel 2-2-2

Turn 1. Ethereal
2&3. Diseased Bite
4. Haunt
Bring in Val'kyr
1. Shadow Shock
2. Curse of Doom
3. Unholy Ascension
Squirrel comes in
1. Creeping Fungus
2. Corpse Explosion
3. Stampede
Squirrel dies
Ghastly Kid comes back in
1. Most would be tempted to finish it with Diseased Bite. I like to Pass and watch him fall over.

Lithelin rédigé le 2017-08-30 22:04:31

Used a S/S Wicked Soul, Bone Serpent and Ghostly skull
Turn 1: Curse of Doom
Wicked Soul revives
Turn 2: Agony
Wicked Soul dies, bring Bone Serpent in
Turn 3: Bone Barrage
Turn 4: Call Darkness
Turn 5: Bone Barrage
Turn 6: Nocturnal Strike
Keep Bone Serpent alive, switch to Ghostly Skull when Antaen Cannon have 1 round left or when Bone Serpent can't take another hit
Turn 7: Unholy ascension
Ghostly revives
Turn 8 : Shadow Slash
If Pilfer survives, Ghostly gets the cannon and dies and you get to finish him with a bone barrage

Argent rédigé le 2017-09-02 11:20:24

I felt like I needed a little extra oompf (and I was getting lucky with blind dodges on the Bone Serpent), so I after swapping to the Ghostly Skull (after the Nocturnal Strike), I hit a Spectral Strike. Darkness still has another 3 rounds left at that time, and it gave me extra damage I needed.

It would be really helpful if you added the breed of pet you used as standard information on each of these guides. My H/H Restless Shadeling did not go first, and as such he was one-shot and phase shift was useless.

Aranesh

rédigé le 2017-08-31 06:25:24

Sorry for that, we're trying to add the info in the strategy where possible. It's on my development roadmap to add Breeds as a fixed information. That will make it a lot easier in the future :-)

Kaelynn rédigé le 2017-08-29 18:52:37

I used a S/B Soulbroken Whelpling (1-2-1) instead of the Restless Shadeling and did Soul Ward > Amplify Magic > Spiritfire Bolt > Spiritfire Bolt for the first 4 rounds, then continued with the original strategy. At the end, I brought whelpling back in and use Spiritfire Bolt twice to finish him off
