As of 10.1.7, this strategy does not work. I've tried several other variations with no luck. Anyone have one that works?

I just checked it, and it worked perfectly first time. It was clean enough that it doesn't seem worth repeating the test.

I did not check all possible substitutions using NFD instead of SDH, but considering it is the highest rated strat here, and that nothing has changed that affects the moves used, I'm not interested in pursuing it unless you give more details, or preferably a log, of what happened in your attempts,

I changed it up a bit as i had issues, I switched Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon and Sprite Darter Hatchling, so that Celestial blessing ends up on Chrominus.

If dmg-debuff of flummox comes on 'howl' otherwise 'bite', and then surge next turn after howl.

Agreed, please move Alternative 2 to 1. I failed with #1 five times, but first time was easy with team 2. But thank you all the same, this is all a great help, and not complaining, but trying to help a little bit.

does not work at all. I do the first two moves: celestial blessing and life exchange but chromadon just howls and one-shots me. I tried it 5 times. bad rng or was this encounter changed?

Have to agree with post below. This should be strat no:1 as it worked first time having tried the existing #1 strat several times with flummox always surviving with 10-90 health. Probably down to my breeds.

Very RNG battle.
I swap Dark Whelpling and Yu'la.
Whelpling: Call Darkness, Lift-Off (if your Whelpling dies here - restart), Tail Sweep (Whelpling dies)
Yu'la: Blessing, Life Exchange (if Tamer miss any turn - restart, else he gets huge damage), Breath (until Yu'la dies)
Chrominius: Howl, Bite (Chrominius gets dragonkin damage buff), Surge of Power (if you lucky to crit - Tamer dies here)

Definitely, this one should be Alternative 1, tried the current Alt 1 one and failed awfully. Call Darkness even made him fail the second slot attack on my whelpling.

#1 does work as well, and it's only #1 because the Dark Whelpling is not exactly a common pet. Otherwise this would indeed be higher priority.

Alternate 2 is the only strat that worked after like a dozen attempts using every strat I could find, and alt 2 strat only works if you get a big crit on surge of power.

This surprisingly worked, but after five tries it really goes like this...
Turn 1 Celestial Blessing
Turn 2 Life Exchange
Turn 3 Yu'la dies (~1490 damage after Life Exchange)
