Basically rematch just goes through every line in order and does the first one that works, so either at the top is the change(next) [self.dead] which means go to the next pet if the current one is dead or at the very bottom is just change(next) which means try literally everything else listed above and if nothing works (normally because the pet is dead), change pets.
