This strategy allows you to level any level one pet. It doesn't need to have a certain amount of health, it won't take damage at all. The leveling pet must be in the second slot for this to work. You can use an S/S Nether Faerie Dragon, but you'll risk having to restart if Beauty and Conviction land too many crits for your Faerie Dragon to survive the third turn against Conviction. Tested with a PB and a PP Dragonetinho do Nexus. Be sure to swap in leveling pet when Convinction will cast Renascimento Negro, swap back in your first pet and let it die, so that you can kill Convinction with your third pet and start fighting Dignity with your flyer already in.

As a third pet, you can use anything that can reliably kill Dignity in 3 turns, to avoid him casting Mar Revolto. Any flyer with Golpe Alfa and enough power should do.

You can level up anything that can survive Luz do Sol on the first turn: any pet with > 158 HP or any critter, mechanical or magic pet.

I love this strat. I have two thoughts on it after running around 100 fights using it today:

1. I use Tasmanien's awesome script, which works like a bomb, although I did take out the quit criteria as sometimes the fight doesn't go exactly according to plan, but is still easily winnable with a little manual intervention.

2. The threshold for Conviction casting Dark Rebirth seems to be <= 400. 400hp is the highest I've seen him cast it at, so it's possible that the threshold is higher.

I just tried it with a Stormborne Whelpling - exactly equivalent to a P/S Nexus Whelpling - and the strat worked perfectly as written. So there is some other problem with your attempts. May-ybe if you got REALLY unlucky with taking crits from Sunlight or Quills or Eyeblast I could believe, but not 5 in a row.

Was your Nexus Whelpling Blue quality and level 25? Do you have a battle log? You can get one from your chat box or the addon Pet Battle Log Keeper.

Definitely mislabeled; level one pets can NOT survive the first round. At all. My highest health level 1 pet has 181 health, and Sunlight hits for 237. This strat is NOT for level 1 pets. 3/4 at best.

yeah, this guy keeps killing my leveling pets. First one was Xuen, level 2 (204 HP), and was killed with first move. Then Crispin, level 1 (HP 149), a critter, killed with first move. Just FYI.

Used this for several fights just now and it works great, though I would recommend giving your teroclaw Dodge because if it can't kill Conviction with the first Alpha Strike and you get the speed debuff, you're in trouble. But if you dodge Eyeblast you're golden! I'm no pet battle master by any means so it's entirely possible there's an easier way to avoid that, but Dodge does the trick for me. :)

There is also one or two other scenarios where a series of unlucky crits by either the opponent's pets or your pets can cause this strategy to fail. This strategy is fairly quick and mostly consistent, but may fail in some edge cases with unlucky RNG number crunches (such as Conviction's health not hitting the 1-400 window that is optimal for the swap). Level pet requirement details: Level 1+ for mechanical, magic, critter, or 159+ health pets. Level 2+ needed for all other pets. Level 3+ or 238+ health needed to survive a critical hit of Sunlight. Pet breed substitutions: PP Nexus Whelpling and PS Zandalari Kneebiter are the most consistent breeds, but other breeds may work with reduced consistency: Nexus Whelpling - other breeds as well as Stormborne Whelpling may work.
