There will inevitably be some RNG involved with the stun, darkness and crits etc. This meant sometimes my pets didn't die when I expected them to, particularly with them being undead. The middle bit of the fight seemed to be reasonably flexible in its ability to withstand enemy attacks. To make it succeed, the last prowl and subsequent spectral strike must hit. The speed return then allows an easy finish off. I've continued testing it and only lost one battle. The end of the Bruce fight and beginning of Maws Jr seems to draw the most changes so i've tried to list it as best I can but may require a little tweak during battle depending on your RNG.... Technically your pet in the 2nd slot could be any lvl 25 rare undead pet, so long as it has a ton of health. According to Rematch there are 13 undead pets in game that you can get as H/H breed, which my Blighthawk is. It was fun to constantly see the enemy pets swapping in and out. The speed return then allows an easy finish off.

I've continued testing it and only lost one battle. The end of the Bruce fight and beginning of Maws Jr seems to draw the most changes so i've tried to list it as best I can but may require a little tweak during battle depending on your RNG....

Was finally able to finish by replacing last pet with Grip of Terror (H/P) after Son of Sethe (P/S) didn't work for me.

I've tried this about a half a dozen times so far and can't do it, I've looked at other suggested options and none of those are any better than this one, very frustrating, this needs to be classified as RNG because it is definitely RNG and so far no luck. After trying several dozens of times I swapped the last pet for Son of Sethe-2-2-1, use Touch of the Animus, then Drain Blood, then Plagued Blood until Maws Jr. died. This was the only way I was able to beat this guy. (edited)

Well, congratulations on beating it using at least partly your own idea!

While I love Xu-Fu's for how much help it provides, I sometimes think it provides TOO much help for a lot of people, who then don't develop their own ideas, instincts, and calculation about how to win battles.

This is still one of the hardest, most RNG-ridden battles in the game, and one that a lot of people skipped in their Family achievement (since you don't have to complete them all). I remember in BfA, we always used to comment that this is a good one to skip. And look on the bright side - you only have to do it once! :D

Thank you so much, but once I start something I can't help but complete it, lol. I totally agree that this fight challenged my paitence for completing it to extremes. Yes, sometimes you have to think outside the box and be creative. Wasn't easy but its done. OMG yes its done and don't have to do it again.
