PET NEWS - BY DRAGONSAFTERDARK
The past few weeks have brought more pet news than usual, so let's get right into it!

1. Seasonal Pet: Snowy Owl

The 21st of December marks the first day of winter, and that means the Snowy Owl will finally spawn in Winterspring!

This pet is a requirement to complete Kalimdor Safari, so if you're missing this one, head on over and catch that pet.

2. 10.0.5 Trading Post up on the PTR!

If you're looking to try your hand at the new feature coming in 10.0.5, you can head over to the PTR!

We'll even see Pet Battles as part of the tasks you can complete each month.

Right now one of the newly teased pets can be found there for purchase: Garrlok

3. Lil' K.T. & Pandaren Monk Leaving the BattleNet Shop on 3 January

Lil’KT and Pandaren Monk will be leaving Battle.net shop indefinitely on January 3rd, 2023.

They are on sale in the shop right now for $3.50 USD each.

They will be added to the Trading Post at some point:
It won’t be long before the Trading Post 6 goes live, but before that happens and some of our regular Blizzard Shop items make a move to the Trading Post, we’ve placed those items on sale for a limited time. Players who want to purchase these items outright can now have the chance before they arrive on the Trading Post vendor in the future.

4. Bakar Companion & Ohuna Companion Now on Live!

As part of the hotfixes released on 19 December, the Bakar Companion & Ohuna Companion were implemented on live!
The first three Centaur Hunts each week now have a chance to award a Bakar or Ohuna battle pet.

They still show no source in the journal, but players have confirmed the pets are dropping from the Hunt Spoils for both max level characters and sub-70 alts.

5. Jingles is Fixed! (?)

Another hotfix for pet battles on 19 December included a (sort of) fix for those who were missing the wreath and candy cane accessories for Jingles:
Jingles should now have a chance to show up with his wreath and candy cane on summon, instead of being locked into an appearance.

While not a complete fix, this does give those who have had a naked Jingles since learning the pet the chance for him to summon with the items.

6. Gray Marmoni & Black Skitterbug

On 16 December there was a hotfix to address the Gray Marmoni & Black Skitterbug items being BoE:
The Gray Marmoni and Black Skitterbug battle pets are now bind-on-pickup.

None of the Renown pets were made cageable, which we can now see was an intentional decision on the part of the WoW team.

That said, as of the publishing of this article the Shyfly (a wild capture pet) remains cageable.

7. Snowclaw Cub & Bugbiter Tortoise

As many who first collected these pets know, they were not visible in the pet journal, but that has been remedied! They now both show up without needing the /summonpet [name] command, or by using Rematch's leveling queue.

In addition to that, there appeared to be some kind of fix for the Honorary Dryad title used to collect the Snowclaw Cub in the API, but this does not appear to have fixed the issue, as players continue to report losing the title in under an hour, or upon logging out.

Phew -- that was a lot! For the pet community, anyway.

There are still some issues that need to be addressed, like summoned pet UIs for Hunters, Warlocks, & DKs overlapping the pet battle UI, but this crop of (relatively) timely fixes is a step forward in the correct direction. It's our sincere hope this trend continues, and we're looking forward to what the WoW team has in store for us in the future!
