I didn't have these pets leveled, so I used 2 Zandalari Anklerenders with Black Claw, Leap and Hunting Party. Kept Black Claw up, Hunting Party on CD and Leap to fill.

It's possible I'm missing something, but I do have a couple thoughts.

Firstly, using howl+breath instead of just breath reduces the duration of the DoT effect (since its cast 1 turn later) and makes criticals worthless (since the magic trait means you can do at most 600 dmg, roughly the crit on an un-howled breath).

Secondly, the Ash'ana seems like a strange choice given that it's a relatively rare pet and lacks Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling's resistance to magic dmg.

After a few failed attempts with this one (heart of the RNG cards not on my side) I made those two changes and had a much easier time.

NOTE: You will want to swap in your bloodgazer for 1 turn after your first pet dies, as the MPD is unlikely to die as well.

For the quest, you can't use MPD as it needs to be done with Bloodgazer + 2 beast pets.

[u[Dreadmaw works very well here with Flame Breath > Deep Burn. It makes the battle much easier and without RNG.
