This is a slight variation on the strategy from Feliciamarie on Wowhead.

The first battle versus Delta works best if he uses Black Claw and Hunting Party on turns 2 and 3.

If Delta does not use those turns in order then the fight can turn a bit complicated, however, this modified strategy works best versus Delta although you may have to restart the fight due to some poor RNG.

My H/B Ironbound Proto-Whelp was still alive when Scars entered the fight, but the script had it waste the round using Ironskin instead of Tail Sweep. Worked fine, otherwise.

I adjusted by using tail whip twice, then iron, then tail whip again. This worked after four fails. But it comes down to what Delta uses, so it's RNG no matter what.

This strat doesn't work. I've been trying for 30 minutes now and the Whelp dies either when Delta has 600+ HP or 119+ left either way, the Nexus dies way before Scars does.

I didn't have an ironbround proto-whelp so I used an emerald proto-whelp (111) instead.
1) Proto-strike
2) Ancient Blessing
3) Breath on repeat.

Delta died before my proto-whelp, and my whelp got 1 breath in on Scars before dying. I then followed the rest of the guide and Chrominius finished the fight with about ~900hp remaining.
