I'm not too sure what has changed since Shadowlands pre-patch, but as of October 23rd, 2020, this strat failed five times in a row using an S/S Nether Faerie Dragon and an S/S Phoenix Hawk Hatchling. Even when I used Lift Off to avoid the nuke, the best outcome would be Phoenix Hawk Hatchling dying in the undead round.

I have to agree, it needs to be 4 Arcane Blast, Not 5. Worked perfect skipping the fifth one.

Seems that with a Sprite Darter Hatchling (and I'm assuming an SS Nether Faerie Dragon), 5 Arcane Blasts before Life Exchange is the way to go.

Kept failing until I saw above comment and realized my Nether Faerie Dragon was indeed SS and needed that extra (fifth) Arcane Blast to win with this strat. Thanks for posting!

Worked fantastically but keep in mind your round numbers are going to be off of you follow it directly since it does not take into account lift off landings for your Wild Crimson hatchling. Again, great start for those of us without a Dragon Hawk leveled!

This really is a very squishy strat. One Enemy crit and you may restart, as Corgi mentioned a Surge of Power seems to be the better way with Emmi, S/B Nether Faerie always died one round too early. So if you have to use Lift-Off to evade the heavy hitter simply restart the combat...

Uses Yu'la(1, 2, 1), Nether Faerie Dragon(2, 2, 1, slow), and Nexus Whelpling(1, 2, 2)

1. open with Yu'la > Lift-Off, and switch to Nether Faerie Dragon.
2. cast: Arcane Blast > Arcane Blast > Life Exchange > Arcane Blast.
3. bring back Yu'la > Lift-Off, and switch again to Nether Faerie Dragon.
4. cast: Life Exchange > 3X Arcane Blast. your dragon will die before the third blast hits.
5. bring back Yu'la > Celestial Blessing > Lift-Off.
6. switch to Nexus Whelpling > Arcane Storm > Mana Surge.
that should do. if it didnt - cast another Arcane Storm or bring Yu'la to finish.

THNX to roeevv to share this on wowhead and JAG to bring it to our attention on this site. During step 4 i made a mistake and casted an Arcane Blast first before i used Life Exchange. This worked even better for me, because the third blast was a hit for me. Making sure I didn't need an extra Arcane Storm of need to bring in Yu'la. One-of-many died clean after the first round of Mana Surge. Cause the undead round can even be passed and he will die anyway.

You can not use an Azure Whelpling as your first slot instead of Emmigosa, unless it is a speed breed perhaps. I have PP Azure Whelpling and it dies before getting off wild magic every time.

If you don't have Yula, use Emmigosa. Worked 1st try but small RNG.
Emmigosa X-2-X
Nether Faerie Dragon - 2-2-X (its recommended that it be 282+ speed but 260 can work)
Nexsus Whelping - X-2-2 (305 speed)

1. Emmigosa - wild magic and emmigosa dies
2. NFD - Arcane blast X 4 then life exchange and arcane blast till dead , you should die from the canon when you have very little health left in round 9 (if no cannon and you died then start again)
3. Nexus Whelping - Arcane Storm, mana surge, arcane storm, mana surge 1st hit and it dies

Note: if you have a 282+ NFD then I think you can get 5 arcane blasts in before life exchange.

This strat is perfect with just 1 variation. On the Nether Faerie Dragon just use 4 (not 5) Arcane Blasts before Life Exchange. It has worked every time with no RNG element. :)

massively RNG, but got it to work with Crimson hatchling, nether faerie, and sprite darter hatchling.

following JAG's strat above (below?) until third cannon. when you swap in the crimson hatchling, just breathe, let it die, and then finish off with sprite darter.

I did a slight variation of this strat with Emmigosa, Nether Faerie Dragon S/S and Phoenix Hawk Hatchling (S/B)

First I lead with Emmigosa and did her Wild Magic.
Then my Nether Faerie Dragon I cast Moonfire first
Arcane Blast x 4
Life Exchange
Arcane Blast x 2 (NFD died to Cannon)
Phoenix Hawk Hatchling
Fly By then Quill until it resurrects
When it resurrects, use lift off to avoid the last attack and you win.

Moonfire probably isn't necessary and you can could just use Arcane blast instead but this is what I used and it worked the four times I tested it.

This is what worked for me:
Wild Crimson Hatchling (1,1,1) Sprite Darter Hatchling (2,2,2) Nexus Whelpling (1,2,2)

It worked because WCH had speed 325 and I could go first. So start with lift-off to avoid first attack. Switch to SDH. Cyclone, Arcane Blast until ~200 hp. Life exchange. Arcane Blast until dead. Switch to NW. Arcane Storm. Mana Surge. Arcane Storm. Pass, die. Breath. Lift-off. Breath x2. Healing flame. Win.

Nexus Whelpling needs to be P/P for this to work. Tried several times with P/S and P/B breeds and ended up just short of getting One-of-Many to enter undead round before healing flame (even if you keep attacking instead of healing, he will hill himself too much for WCH to get him down again). Unless you got serious crit luck it won't work without P/P.

This strat didn't work for me, my phoenix couldn't finish the job.

I did:
Blue Dragonhawk Hatchiling Rake - I didn't die so did a burn.
Sprite Darter - Arcane Blast, Life exchange when getting low, Arcane blast til dead. - Sprite needs to die from the big hit, not before.
Nexus whelpling. - Arcane storm, Mana Surge.

The key is definitely to have an S/S dhawk in that top slot. I think any one will do as long as it has Rake and Flamethrower.

Only thing I did a bit diff was I opted to go Rake, Rake, Flame, Flame, so that OoM got less of a heal from its first hit out of stun. Made things a little less hairy.

I modified the moves just a touch on the posted strat - for one, Emmigosa can get a Surge of Power off before getting nuked, which takes a nice chunk out of One-of-Many. Trying for five Arcane Blasts risks losing the faerie dragon (whichever one you use), so four blasts then Life Exchange. That leaves the Phoenix Hawk Hatchling very little to clean up.

I didn't have the fast Nether Faerie Dragon, so 4 Arcane Blasts before Life Exchange and then I was able to hang on until the next Antaen Cannon. I used Nexus Whelpling in 3rd slot as meddle suggested.

I looked through the comments and didn't find any alternatives that fit my roster, so I experimented. I found this strat by looking at the damage One-of-Many deals and noticing he could get my Nether Faerie Dragon (HP Breed) very low in time for life exchange.

This strat is probably very dependent on matching my Fearie Dragons breed, but maybe you can cobble something together with inspiration from the comments like I did.

This is what I used:

Phoenix Hawk Hatchling SS (2, 2, 2)
Nether Faerie Dragon HP (2, 2, 2)
Nexus Whelpling PP (1 ,2 2)

Heres what I did:

1+2. Lift off
3. Quills
4. Quills

--> Swap to Nether Faerie Dragon

1. Arcane Blast
2. Life Exhange
3. Arcane Blast

--> Dies, swap to Nexus Whelpling

1. Arcane Storm
2+3+4. Mana Surge
5. Arcane Storm
6. Tail Sweep

--> Dies, swap to Phoenix Hawk Hatchling

1. Flyby
2+3. Lift Off
4. Quills
5. Quills

I tested 4 additional times and it worked without fail, although excessive crits will probably ruin your fight, but that's nothing new.

Using Arcane Blast so much, it only makes sense to cast Moonfire first for the extra 10% on Magic abilities, and, I agree with the Nexus Whelpling sub. It takes a lot of Quills RNG out of the equation.

I struggled with this strat using a P/P Nether Faerie Dragon due to it always dying before I could get Life Exchange cast after the 5 Arcane Blasts. Put in my S/S Nether Faerie Dragon w/it's 325 speed ensuring it would go first and viola this strat worked like a charm.

I only have a P/P Nether Faerie Dragon so I used the Sprite Darter hatching instead which also has Life Exchange and Arcane Blast. I love your guides Xu-Fu but my one and only gripe is the fact that you don't list the breeds you use. I realize it doesn't matter in most fights but in these Argus ones it really does matter.

FYI he does list the breeds. Any time a specific stat is required it is very clearly stated below the list of pets

That is true. If there are no requirement listed, any breed will work. Unless we made an error, which does happen with the amount of strategies up :-)
Long-term I will work on a better solution for breeds. I hope to have this up and running before the next big pet patch :D

Sadly this is another strat that doesn't work. Phoenix Hawk Hatchling cannot finish the job.

Nothing wrong with it. I have seen you post this comment before on fights with listed breed requirements, I guess you aren't reading them?

My Nether Faerie Dragon was not fast enough so used a Sprite Darter Hatchling instead and it worked first time :)

This is a great strategy, but I will say that it *can* fail as Fysm says, even if the Nether Faerie Dragon and Phoenix Hawk Hatchling are fast enough. It took me a few tries and what it came down to was crits from One-of-Many vs. Nether Faerie Dragon. If I only got in one Arcane Blast after Life Exchange, that would line up Phoenix to take a hit from Antean Cannon on the first turn it came in, and it got one-shot. If on the other hand the Faerie gets two Arcane Blasts in after Life Exchange, then it works perfectly as advertised. I may have just had bad luck several times in a row, which is possible on most strategies.

I didn't have Emmi leveled, so i subbed the bronze whelpling (1 2 2). Crystal Prison followed by Arcane Storm (and the whelpling has a speed of 325) replaced the first slot easily. Followed the strat with Nether faerie just fine, then brought in the nexus and hit mana surge straight away. Worked well as a secondary option.

Worked for me, but with RNG, I used life exchange after 4 arcane blasts, not 5. Also, did not need lift-off near the end, so I saved it for when he resurrected.
