You can probably get away with a 10+ for mechs, and probably anything except flyers, but do 15+ to be safe.
Because the enemies can have random abilities, and don't use them in any particular order, sometimes a level 14 flyer will survive, and sometimes a level 19 will die. Use a flyer as the level pet at your discretion.

I couldnt see on the site here what lvl the carry pet has to be. lvl 1 dies every time. Its hit by arcane and at lvl 1 to 5 my pet died every fight :( I got a lvl 13 pet to work for me (edited)
