Xu-Fu's Treasure Hunt is back to celebrate the launch of The War Within!

Read on to learn more about the treasure hunt and all the prizes available!

1. Introduction

The TLDR is very simple: find treasure, win prizes!

Between August 18 and August 25 (23:59 GMT), just in time for the new expansion, you can find coins and many other items or events on strategy pages.
They are placed on strategies like this ------>
There are also other things you can find scattered across strategies, not just coins! Magic portals, abandoned chests and more.
Whatever it is you find, hover over it with your mouse to find out what it does.

2. The Treasure Vault

What to do with all those coins that you can find? Well, it is the year of the dragon, but hoarding them in your account won't help towards any prizes.
Instead, head over to your trusty Treasure Vault where you can use your coins and more.

2.1 The Magic Portal

Your vault has a built in magic portal! You can use it once every 24 hours to find something great. Perhaps. It's magic, so don't expect any wonders. Wait that doesn't make sense...
Anyway, good luck! (for reals, nothing bad can happen through the magic portal)

2.2 Manage your warriors

Warriors are used to... liberate... chests that are protected by pesky defenders. In the vault you can hire new warriors, train them to increase their power level, and heal defeated Warriors.
You can upgrade Warriors up to 100 power level with coins or treats. Beyond that, only winning battles against other warriors of similar power level can strengthen them, up to a maximum of 200 power!

Read more on warriors and battling further down in the section How Battles Work

2.3 Donate to Sir Finley's cause

Finally, some real talk about treasure! To enter into the prize draw, all you have to do is donate coins. All coins given by the community are counted together to unlock prizes. Those will then be raffled out among all participants, with each coin counting like a raffle ticket! The more coins you donate, the higher your chances for a prize :-)
And these are the prizes you can look forward to:

2.4 Check your game activity

At the bottom of the treasure page you will find a log of all your activity in the Treasure Hunt, showing the last 48 hours. Check back here if anything is unclear and you will see exactly what happened.

3. Attacking Chests

If you come across a chest, you can try to grab it!
Chests are always protected by a warrior that you need to defeat first.

Each Warrior has a clearly visible power level which plays an important role in their chance of winning a battle.
When two warriors clash, the fight happens automatically with a clear winner and loser. After the attack, you will see a report of how the battle played out.

Interested in the nitty gritty details? Read on. Otherwise, skip this section, it's just a bunch of maths :D

3.1 How battles work

Battles are fought in rounds. In each round, both warriors roll the dice. The "size" of the die is determined by the power level of the weaker warrior. For example, if one warrior has 50 and the other 30 power, they will both roll a 30-sided die (a D30). The lowest possible roll is a D5, even if the weaker warrior has a lower power level.

The warrior with the higher roll wins the round and attacks. Their result is subtracted from the other warriors power level.
In case of a draw, nothing happens and the round ends without any changes.

Once one of the warriors power level drops to 0 power, the fight is over. You can see an example of a battle log here:

The winner of a fight will gain power depending on the initial power difference. A very strong warrior defeating a weak one will not gain much or no power at all. Same in the other direction, if you defeat a much higher warrior, yours will gain a lot of additional power.

You made it until here? Great! Now you know everything you need about the game.
Good luck on the Treasure Hunt!

Question, I have all of the items that are being offered up as prizes. If I somehow manage to win one, is the prize void and rerolled, or can I win the cash equivalent or even have it gifted to one of my friends? I was mainly throwing in coins to get to the last two thresholds rather than wanting to earn a prize personally. (edited)

Bit of a late response, sorry. We can do either - cash equivalent, or a code that you can gift to friends. Up to you really if you win something!

Thank you for the response, I'll remember this for next year's treasure hunt! and apologies for my own (really) late reply, life got in the way. (edited)

How long til warriors heal on their own?

Kalagren

wrote on 2024-08-22 08:51:05

My warrior is wounded. All I am finding are chests and no coins.
With zero coins, I cannot heal.

Do warriors heal on their own?

Kalagren

They do not heal on their own.
Patience and continuing to search for free unguarded treasures net you the coins needed to heal pets.

How do you get coins in the first place? I am at 0, can't afford a warrior so I can't get chests

It starts out really slow, but I feel like the rate I see chests and geodes and cards and such increases as I play more.

The first part is really hard but when you have your pet at 200 is most easy. I have literally search in all page (edited)

How do you get your pet to level 200?

Aranesh

wrote on 2024-08-21 13:15:40

You can upgrade to level 100 with coins and after that you have to win battles for your pet to improve further :-)
