This does not work. Agree, never make it to second moonfire which basically dooms the fight.

So tired of these strategies where the hatching dies. That automatically fails the quest, so it's not an option. Stop making these strategies that are essentially useless! (edited)

Xu-Fu (1-2-1) and Bloodgazer (2-1-2) did the job. My third pet Tree Python, didnt entered the combat.

Blinding Poison, Poison fang, puncture wound. Takes out the spider and gets a few hits on the bat. Bloodgazer might have been able to finish without Kovok but didn't chance it.

I chose Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen instead of Ash'ana. Xu-Fu's Moonfire > Spirit Claws decimates the first 2 pets and Vengeance counters the enemy's big hitting Burrow very well.
