Used strat for 1st pet but then...
Substituted Stormborne Whelpling with Chrominius (1,1,2)
- used Howl then Surge of Power.
- 3rd pet finished off with standard attack.

It was close but if you just use three pets that have Tail Sweep and just spam it you can cheese your way through.

I didn't have the Nexus Whelpling and my Stormborne wasn't leveled.
I used:
Nether Faerie Dragon 2/2/1 S/S (don't know if breed matters)
Lil' Tarecgosa 2/1/1
Chrominius 2/1/2
-Moonfire
-Arcane Blast
-Life Exchange
-Arcane Blast -- Nether Faerie Dragon dies
-Arcane Storm
-Surge of Power -- Lil' Tarecgosa dies
-Surge of Power

Dragonkin Team:
Stormborne Whelpling (P/S) - 1, 1, 1
Wild Jade Hatchling (H/P) - 2, 1, 2
Any Dragonkin

Stormborne Whelpling:
1 - Call Lightning
2 - Thunderbolt
3 - Tail Sweep. Stormborne Whelpling can die here. In this case just proceed with Wild Jade Hatchling.
4 - Tail Sweep
5 - pass, Stormborne Whelpling dies

Wild Jade Hatchling:
1 - Lift-Off
2 - Call Lightning

Ruinhoof should die here. If not you have 2 pets alive to finish him. RNG can make some mess here but your 3rd pet will guaratees your victory.

This worked for me:
Nexus Whelp 1/2/2 + Lil' Tarecgosa 2/1/1 + Azure Whelpling 2/1/1
Arcane Storm > Mana Surge > Pass (going to die here no matter what move you use). > Bring in lil Tarec > Arcane Storm > Surge of Power > Tarec dies, bring in Azure whelpling > Surge of Power. Win. :)

Worked the first time. Always the leveler, I brought in a L21 Wild Golden Hatchling (he was my highest non-25 Dragon), and he finished the battle with Ruinhoof at 34 HP. Neither one of my L25s got in Tail Sweep. They were both killed following their third Mana Surge. Worked out anyway. Thanks for the strategy Lazey & Xu-Fu.

First time kill. My storm whelp wasn't levelled so used the nexus whelp with 2 chrominus. 112.
Just winged it when nexus dead!

Nexus Whelpling & Chrominius worked just fine. Arcane Storm > Mana Surge, and then Bite > How > Surge of Power from my H/H Chrominius ended the fight.

This strat is extremely RNG and my 2 Whelplings could never get a Tail Sweep in. Worked third time due to lucky crits.

YMMV, worked first time for me. Ruinhoof went down on 2nd hit of Mana Surge from Stormborne Whelpling, no Tail Sweep needed from Nexus Whelpling.

Mine both couldn't get Tail Sweep, but I still finished him off with my third pet - I used the Thundering Serpent Hatchling with Call Lightning.

I used Infinite Whelpling (1,1,1), Azure Whelpling (2,1,1) and any random dragon
Infinite Whelpling - Early Advantage, Tail Swipe, Healing Flame, Early Advantage - At this point he will die and Ruinhoof will be between 650-750 HP
Azure Whelpling - Breath, Surge of Power

Not sure what Infinite Whelping you're using that has Early Advantage with only a 2 round cooldown. Early Advantage, Tail Swipe, Healing Flame still leaves 1 round before you can Early Advantage again. You need to Tail Swipe x2, and then Early Advantage. Tried a few times, and never got Ruinhoof under 865 HP. I managed regardless, but this strat seems flawed.

Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1,1,2) was amazing! Cast Bombing Run followed by Decoy, then Breath until Bombing Run is off cooldown, rinse and repeat. Used Nexus Whelpling and Stormborne Whepling as suggested in main strat for slots 2 and 3.

If you're saying those were the moves you used for Nether Faerie Dragon, they're not part of its moveset.
