This was very easy for me. Mirror Stider (H/b), Aqua Strider (S/S), Eternal Strider (S/B). Last strider still had 79% health

Hi,

I found the above to not work very well for me. I will admit to not having all of the above.. But I was using a Mirror Strider and dancing water skimmer X2. Failed 3 times.

What I ended up using was
Tundra Penguin - 2,1,1
Emperor Crab - 1,1,1
Mirror Strider - 1,2,2.

I found using this setup each pet clears its target plus gives 1 to 2 attacks on your next target.

Emperor crab can be timed that when the rat is about to go invulnerable to cast renewing mists. This gives your mirror strider a little assistance going into the next round...

No tricks really.. straight muscle.

Despite your calling this strat "garbage" I got stunned twice and won with the last pet having 128 health. The way RNG can be in pet battles,you cannot judge a strat bad based on two fails nor 1 win. And I used three striders

Fair warning - true, this isn't a garbage strategy as I can see how it could work. But it should be clearly marked 'Highly RNG-dependent' and it is, if you squint at it right. I just ran it seven times with no success. A couple of those times all three striders were dead before the second mob (Remy) died, but a couple of times I was a single hit away from winning.

I've sent a fresh strategy, using two easy to get crabs (including the Emperor Crab) + a leveling pet, I used a 18+ but since he didn't take any damage I can say it is safe to bring a LVL 1 in 3rd slot, the Emperor can pretty much solo both first 2 pets, and almost kills 3rd one, even if he dies with the 3rd full in life, you can still kill it with the second crab.
We now just need to know when Remy (second pet) uses his Invincibility ability, maybe below 30-35% health, and when Emperor brings him first to those values, its safe to bring the leveling pet in, as the mice won't attack, and instead use his 'I will not die' ability, then the crab back.

I found the strider strategy to be an epic failure even without getting frogged or stunned.

Emperor Crab x2 1,1,1
any aquatic pet

Shell Shield mitigates all dot effects.
Keep Renewing Mists up,
Snap when not applying the other two abilities

First crab took out his first two pets and got the 3rd below half health, 2nd crab finished the job.

Totally agreed. I never managed to get the 3-striders team to beat this fight, maybe I just got unlucky but after 3 tries I applied your advise, and.. well... my P/P emperor crab soloe'd this fight without ever getting below 1k HP .. it takes AGES vs. the frog (Dinner) because of the Bubble and if you want to keep Renewing Mists and Shell Shield up. But it works perfectly.

Strongly agree to this strategy. My H/H Emperor crab solo'd it. Took the shore (h/h) and spirebound (balance) crabs for backup with the same moveset, but didn't ever drop below 700 on my emp and i had unfortunate stun luck to boot. This was a great recommendation to trivialize this fight.

3 striders fail. However I didn't see this strat and grabbed my emperor crab as well.
Aqua Strider (1,2,2), Emperor Crab (2,2,2), other aquatic.
Strider takes out all or most of Gasteau and dies. Crab uses whirlpool when available, surge otherwise, and healing wave when below 900 hp. Whirlpool might hit a bubble at some point but still works.

I found Dinner able to kill off 2 striders on his own! Anyway I went in with Emp Crab to do first 2 pets, then used Striders to take down DInners health much faster, and final hit with the Crab. I do wonder if putting Strider in first, casting Cleansing Rain for increase damage from Aquatics might make it quicker for first 2. Emp is efficient but takes forever.
