Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

I just keep EPresence up and pass otherwise until enemy's Sting has one turn left on the cd. Then I refresh EPresence one more time. Next EDream and the fight will finish itself and EPW will be at full health.

I added a leveling pet at the start (worked great with a level 10 mech).
1-Hit with anything from leveling pet (lvl 10 took light damage)
2-Switch to Emerald Proto Whelp
Follow original system and never needed the backup pet.(Only got 209 exp for the pet with hat, so putting in another doesn't seem worthwhile to me)

I have updated the TD Script to include a levelling pet in the first slot:

standby [round=1]
change(#2) [self(#1).played]
ability(Emerald Presence:597) [ !self.aura(Emerald Presence:823).exists ]
ability(Emerald Presence:597) [ self.aura(Emerald Presence:823).duration = 1 ]
ability(Emerald Dream:598) [ self.hp <750 ]
standby

use(Emerald Presence:597) [round=7]
use(Emerald Presence:597) [round=10]
use(Emerald Dream:598) [round=4]
use(Emerald Dream:598) [round=11]
standby

Emerald Proto-Whelp will be on max health when the fight ends. Please let me know if there's a more concise way of writing the script, I'm not sure of what syntax I can use so a pet will use an ability on rounds 2, 7 and 10.

What I've been doing with this fight is:

Pass > Pass > Ancient Blessing > Emerald Dream

Repeat the above moves, and then finish with Ancient Blessing

Script:

ability(Ancient Blessing:611) [round~3,9,13]
ability(Emerald Dream:598) [self.ability(Ancient Blessing:611).duration=3]
standby
change(next)

Konctantin

Or even easier and your dragon do not need healing for the same next battle

use(#2) [ round ~ 1,4,9 ]
use(#3) [ round ~ 5,11 ]
standby
change(next) (edited)

Stresse

It's a bit more readable as:

ability(Emerald Presence:597) [ self.aura(Emerald Presence:823).duration <= 1 ]
ability(Emerald Dream:598) [ self.hp <750 ]
standby

I'm a new battler. Does Emerald Presence really take precedence over Emerald Dream?? (In theory—I understand in practice it might not matter for this fight)

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2020-01-02 22:26:39

You want the damage reduction to be up for the duration of Emerald Dream, in most cases, so you'll want Presence up for 3+ rounds before you Dream.

Zaranthos

This can fail if you're critically hit. Probably just changing Emerald Dream when health < 750 would fix that in most cases. Technically my backup pet still finished it anyway though.

If you're Horde, watch out for the Guard that walks up and down the patch. Will autoattack flag you for PVP :

I've been using this one upside-down. Two trainee or random pets, and the Emerald Proto-Whelp to finish.

Squish

Works great! Goes quicker if you just pass instead of using Emerald Bite.

Just change the last line of the TD Script to standby to make the whelp pass instead of using Emerald Bite.

You're right, I'll make the change. The reason it was in there in the first place was I thought it was health/random when the bees began to sting.

Some time after I made this strat I saw it was purely cooldown based, so you're right, no attacks needed.
